Close it, tick off the Republicans, bring the suspected “bad guys” here for trial, and if there aren’t grounds for trial, send ’em home. Yes, right, Cuba is a terrible place, especially the place we run there.

So true but, the Afrikaner minority party never figured out how to turn Nelson into a mind controlled counter agent sent deep into the ANC to return with vital information to destroy its illegal agenda against the ruling Nationalist Party. Those racist idiots had nothing on the nation that controls the free world these days, except maybe a little more integrity.

Funny thing is some of the “terrorists” were holding are now fighting to stay. they say going back to their home country will mean their deaths

I’m sure Obama will close Gitmo if the Democrats lose the next election.

Held for over a decade without charges, or hope. I would guarantee that Coraryan , based on all her comments here, wouldn’t have lasted three weeks if held under the conditions at Guantanamo. Had a chance to talk to a retired general, and former commander at Gitmo, we noted he “took in” some of the people my son’s little group sent them.

We wasted billions to build a ludicrous prison, and make the effort to appear “civilized”, there is absolutely nothing “civilized” about policies, or treatment, at Gitmo.

As I’ve said for years, close it, bring the truly suspected “criminals” to this country for trial, and either convict and imprison them, or let them go. As to the other component of right-wing wrong thinking, many of those who were released who DID join “terrorist” groups, did so because they were wrongly imprisoned (for various reasons, like being turned in by a neighbor who didn’t like them) and wanted to get even!

So what if some of the released Gitmo residents return to the so-called battlefield? They will be one of thousands and their presence will make no noticeable difference. Releasing them from illegal detention is the lessor of the evils.
