That’s the same negotiating tactic I used with my Dad. Start with something outrageous and adjust until I got what really wanted. (Some how, forty years later, I NOW suspect he was wise to me the whole time)
As a kid growing up I wished for peace on every Christmas and shooting star. Kids are stupid that way.
