“…. And guess what, my wife and I purchased it with our OWN MONEY! What a novel idea.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well, aren’t you lucky! And people who don’t have money can just do without. There’s the old ‘Christian’ spirit!
Sitting in the same place waiting for someone to provide you with a job is analogous to dog thinking. There is always work to be done but too many that don’t want ot do it.
“……… There is always work to be done but too many that don’t want ot do it.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Your opinion seems to be too opinionated; yes, there is always work to be done. But for many it is unavailable to them for a variety of reasons.
1. Maybe they could get to work, but they don’t have enough money to buy a car – and a taxi would suck up every penny they earned.
2. Maybe there is an available job, but they haven’t been trained for it, and their folks couldn’t afford to send them to college.
3. There was a job opening, but too many people were competing for it.
4. The job that was offered didn’t pay enough to put food on the table.
And on and on and on.
Walk a mile in his shoes. Your coin has two sides. It wouldn’t hurt for you to look at the other side.
Republican philosophy: The wealthy don’t have enough money. The poor have too much. More tax cuts for the rich! More nutrition and healthcare cuts for the poor. Christian nation indeed.
Thanks for exposing these wingers’ arguments as utter nonsense. For some reason they think that the national average of $9.00 a day in food stamps is more than sufficient to feed people; and that jobs are abundant enough that only lazy people aren’t working. Whatever it is that makes the extremist conservatives here think as they do has had no effect upon their hearts, except to harden them.
“Of course Food Stamps and SNAP contribute nothing whatsoever to personal responsibility and self reliance. But they do generate votes for the democrats and that’s what the handouts are all about.”
As you do unto the least of these, you do unto me.
ypoons: you overlook the fact that Carnegie funded all those libraries as a “sin offering”, literally, to make up for all those, including small children, he killed as he grew his wealth in his “industry”. His libraries were also intended to provide education for “the poor” with PUBLIC libraries, so that future generations would be educated, and not fall prey to such as himself.
I’m sure that today the CEO of EXXON Mobil, with millions in his pocket from government subsidies in his annual bonus, also says “I bought it with MY OWN money.” He just doesn’t want folks on the right to see where it actually came from, the government largesse.
Interesting. If Food Stamps and Snap generate votes for Democrats, why do Republicans insist on raising the poverty level and usage of Food Stamps whenever they have power?

Create, maybe, but can capitalism hang onto the “greatness” by itself? NO, we need to balance it with other isms.
