Having ridden elephants on a howdah, a saddle, and a blanket, I definitely recommend the saddle. Never had nausea, but having nothing but a blanket between the middle of the elephant’s spine and the bottom of mine (and those guys don’t even have that!) was rather painful.
Sam and Pith-headed Ted will hardly be able to stand let alone fight once they’ve dismounted Tantor. I’ve ridden elephants and believe me, if you’re a guy you’re going to have trouble walking after your “ride”! :)> VeryPainfulAGowa!!
