@Randy_BOr maybe he knows how to double-breathe (breathe in through his nose while blowing out through his mouth), but that won’t help him spear-fishing. I was never able to do it on tuba. I don’t think it can be done indefinitely, and I have the impression that the sound can end up being a bit thin.

I’m now reminded of once hearing that a very macho (or masochistic?) trumpet player I knew, who could double-breathe, had been lured into a competition with a bagpiper to see which of them could hold a note the longest. I never did hear what the outcome was, but I know my money would have been on the bagpiper.

Isn’t there an old drinking song that includes the line, “Now every piper had a very fine sack, and a very fine sack had he”?

Kenny G can double-breathe. That man can hold a note forever.

I don’t get it: “spearfishing”? How does that tie in to trumpeting, even in a comedic sense?

I think you have to be able to circular breath to play Carnival of Venice as actually written.

Jeff, you missed a perfectly good chance to use the word “recondite”.

Baloons Boulton has Caufield picturing a well endowed female trumpet player. Yes it went right over Frazz’s head.

I think Frazz got it and is just choosing to ignore it.
