Dunno. Gives people more to scream about, I guess. Impersonal warfare always frightens people. The same way that an assassination is frowned upon yet it can save the lives of, literally, millions. What if Hitler had been assassinated during the Beer Hall Putsch of 1923? Or if Stalin had been taken out in 1946? One bullet and no need to carpet bomb an entire nation. Yet the divine right of kings attitude that it is better to slaughter a few hundred thousand to a few million civilians and cannon fodder peasant troops instead of taking out the head of state prevails, even today. Tyrants could care less how many troops are killed, they only worry when their own mangy hides are in danger. If they know, for a fact, that the first thing that will occur is a concerted effort to assassinate them, they’ll likely cause less trouble.

And how is it falling straight down? Where’s the angular travel from the "dropper"’s forward momentum? ;-)

@hawgowar – Leaders don’t like killing other leaders because it might be their turn next if they openly set a precedent.

Actually, the correct translation is ‘you shall not murder’, not ‘you shall not kill’. Not all killing is murder, just as not all food is pizza.
