Even more money could have been saved by bringing our troops home from Afghanistan, and by ending the program to purchase tanks that will never be used, and/or by ending the missile defense corporate-welfare “shield”.
Don’t limit yourself to what you personally don’t like. Pay attention, instead, to what is hurting the country as a whole.

I suspect you’re right. I’m pretty sure you aren’t my husband, because he doesn’t usually watch NPR, but the rest is pretty consistent with his sources, and mine.
Do you think it’s some sort of genetic condition? The need to do the research, factor in one’s own memories, correlate all the data … ?
Or do you think it’s because we were taught to think and to learn before we were old enough to resist – as these days, children are taught categorically NOT to think.
I just wish they’d quit accusing us of lying. My mother actually apologized to me before she died for having cured me so absolutely of lying. Oh, sure, I can refrain from telling you your new toupee looks like a cat toy, or that I wouldn’t touch that brand of shiny new automobile with a barge pole. I was also taught to keep my mouth shut, if I couldn’t say something civil. This occasionally presents conflicts, but nothing really challenging. I was taught to agree to disagree when necessary, and stick to the point when arguing. Miraculously, that was taught in the schools I went to, as well as at home.
Philosophical logic was taught in the grade schools I went to. I don’t know when it happened, but it’s my understanding that the only courses on philosophic logic now to be found are in graduate philosophy degree work.
I guess the unwashed masses don’t need rational, logical thought processes. I’d have said rather the opposite, but what do I know?
Why? Oh, maybe the 44,000 who died each year because they couldn’t get insurance. Maybe because insurance companies would be happy to take your money, until it came time to do what you were paying them to do, then they’d drop you.
That’s what the subsidies are for. Plus, for a lot of the people who couldn’t get it, it was because the companies wouldn’t insure them, not because they couldn’t afford it.
A couple weeks ago, it took FIVE HOURS on the phone, with THREE “EXPERTS” at my bank to get direct deposit set up, because their EXPERTS couldn’t make the page work. Finally set up, then this week they sent a snail mail they’re “upgrading” the site, which means the “improvements” will mean starting all over again???
Those who say the “corporates” never screw up, are total idiots, or outright liars.

Correction: you should watch Fox News once in a while & find out what “some people say” is really happening.

FOX? They have about as much to do with unbiased news as NBC does with television.
