Dumb huh, Burl? There’s the pot calling the kettle black. Say, where is everybody? I enjoy following what you all are up to as much as I love the Dinette Set.

In my book, Miracle Whip is a sure way to ruin everything, so I’m with Burl on this one.

The best substitute for Hellman’s (or as we know it out here, Best Foods) is no mayo at all.

I just suffered through a whole quart of cheaper stuff…. yuck.

I’d never seen it before, and I thought it would be good cos it was made by Heinz…. who make the only ketchup.

But no…..and I should have figured out that was why it ended up on sale so cheap.

Miracle whip is stupid. I don’t even know what it costs but it’s crap. What is it made out of, I never looked. Prob imitation non fat dry (FREE THE DRY ONE!) milk and some gelling agent. What do I know? I’m no food engineer, I can hardly post in comics forum. But I’m smarter than that stupid Miracle Whip. HEY!! Hell oh oh! Whipped cream?? If for some reason you want to line your taste buds with a cloying grease then, drum roll, whipped cream.

Oh wait, it’s Cool Whip for which I have a hair across my butt.

Give me a break, right here!

Egg yolks and oil + seasonings to taste.

If the woman doesn’t have dark brown sugar what are the odds of having light? I have some light for her, I don’t bake a lot so she can have mine.

Miracle Whip is mayo with seasonings in it to make mayo taste better.. I don’t like either much anyway…

Even the clown is laughing at the fools…

Or regular white sugar with some molasses.

@BA, Thanks for providing everyone the links.

I just saw on my home page BBC blurb that the Pythons are holding a press conference Thursday and will do a reunion show (sans Graham, natch’). Got to see that!

growing up we never ever had real Mayo, just Miracle Whip or the store brand sub for MW. I don’t mind MW but am partial to Mayo, especially Hellmann’s.

Anyone on here ever heard of Rex Jelly? Mom used to buy that because it was cheap for our toast, no flavor, like strawberry or cherry, just red and sweet……..

The way all these people cook, she could just put some brown shoe polish in some table sugar. None of them will know the difference.

TAFFY APPLE: 1tbs cornstarch, juice from 8 oz can crushed pineapple, 1/2 C sugar, 1tbs cider vinegar, 1 beaten egg. Cook this over low heat until thicker and refrigerate. Peel & dice 4 C apples and combine with crushed pineapple. Mix the cooled dressing with fruit. Serve.

So which is goonier: the big “CLOWN” picture or that little one that looks like the Pennys when they were…actually younger once?

I prefer Miracle Whip, Hellman’s is to greasy and off white for me. Connie must be a horrible cook if she calls Joy for advice.-I notice in the clown picture, his hat is in front of the frame, how is that done?-Burl has a good choice for his shirt today. The term pound foolish cannot be taken lightly in his case.

OK guys. Mayo vs Miracle Whip. (Or generically, “salad dressing/sandwich spread.”)Mayo=egg yolks, oil, lemon juice or vinegar, salt. Emulsified. Tart. Basis for various aiolis. God’s gift to us.MW=oil, water, vinegar, sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, seasonings, and a little bit of egg (of some sort.)Less egg makes it whiter. Sweeteners makes it sweet. Less likely to spoil upon a summer’s day. (Although it will absolutely ruin a potato salad.) They are most definitely different. MW does have a particular affinity for packaged balogna late at night after weed.As Dazz will attest, there is absolutely nothing to compare with hand made mayo using EVOO.In addition to Hellmans, there is also Duke here in the south. It is not as tart as H but still adequate.

I have always considered Miracle Whip to be a boiled dressing with nothing of mayo in it, but according to Wikipedia there is “mayonnaise product” in it.

From Wikipedia: "According to Kraft archivist Becky Haglund Tousey, Kraft developed the product in-house using a patented “emulsifying machine” (invented by Charles Chapman) to create a product blending mayonnaise product and less expensive salad dressing, sometimes called “boiled dressing.”2 The machine (dubbed “Miracle Whip” by Chapman) ensured that the ingredients (including more than 20 different spices) could be thoroughly blended"
