More of a pain this year. I’ve got to be at work by 2AM for a physical inventory count that day. I hope the trick or trating will be over early this year.
@Tony, I used to be fun when families make their costumes. The OZ group was one of my favorites because all the boys were old enough to help making the lion mask and the tin man suit was aluminum foil rubber-glued to plain white old sheets. All 3 boys look so big there (and that tin man was upset that the foil started to peal by the end of trick and treats- he’s the same one with current photos on Ballard Street yesterday. I’m guessing this was 1967. I believe the year before they were Robin Hood, Little John, Friar Tuck and Maid Marian. I tried very hard to not only make the costumes economicalm but when possible they were of cotton flannel that could be worn as PJs for a while (and that came only in baby pastel colors, so I was boiling that Ritz Dye)!
Now I just try to humor a few neighbors. Last night some of my favorite kids were at my door after dark with a mom in a satin dress, doing a scavenger hunt. I was easily able to produce a stick match and a rubber band (the first 2 items they requested).

Gravestones set up in front yards must be depressing for some. Me? No, I’m not a fan of Halloween.
