“Poor Bennet. The majority of Americans do not want Obamacare.”Or at least the segment who didn’t bother to look beyond the empty rhetoric dished out by those with a vested interest in its failure.
" The majority of Americans do not want Obamacare."Mdavis, since you and “the majority” don’t want Obamacare, could you answer these five simple questions, so we can understand your position better?
1. Why do you want insurance companies to be able to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions?
2. Why is it bad to require insurance companies to spend at least 80% of insurance premiums on actual health care, as opposed to executive salaries and bonuses?
3. Why is it bad for dependents to be able to stay on their parents’ policy until age 26, instead of making them get more expensive care at a younger age?
4. Why do you like lifetime insurance caps?
5. Why is it better to have millions of people uninsured who then use emergency rooms for routine care, costing far more?
Come on…you can be the first to answer all five, and not just run away with your tail between your legs like Ansonia, MStevenson58, onguard, Gore Bane, wbr, Harleyquinn, Tigger, coraryan, churchillwasright, Enoki…the list goes on.
The majority of Americans have no idea how it protects them. For example, the majority of people who file for medical bankruptcy, estimated to be around a million a year, have medical insurance. With the previous lax insurance regulations the insurance companies could deny treatment to people with serious illness, leaving them to die, and saddling the relatives with crippling debt. People thought they had bought insurance to take care of them after a serious illness, and instead its often just a scam. The new regulations spell out different levels of care, so when you purchase insurance you know exactly what you’re getting:
“USA Today had a poll last week that showed 53% of Americans did not Want The ACA.”Here’s the facts, with a link, Tigger: http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2013/09/29/obamacare-affordable-care-act-obama-column/2892183/"Forty-six percent of the group asked about “ObamaCare” opposed it. But only 37% of those asked about the health law opposed it."So you are wrong when you say “53% of Americans did not Want The ACA”. The Republicans have purposely sewn so much confusion that many Americans don’t realize that Obamacare and the ACA are exactly the same thing. So, in fact the USA Today is reporting that only 37% are against the ACA. But I’m sure that won’t stop you from continuing to claim it’s 53%. Nevertheless, give it time. People were against Romneycare at first, but now it’s considered a success. The same will happen with Obamacare.
“There is a member here who posted they tried to get Health Insurance via The Government Exchanges and were DENIED DUE TO PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS!”So prior to the ACA millions were turned down for pre-existing conditions, and after the ACA all we have is ONE anonymous case. I’d say that’s a success, wouldn’t you, Tigger?
By the way, Tigger, since you and “the majority” don’t want Obamacare, could you answer these five simple questions, so we can understand your position better?
1. Why do you want insurance companies to be able to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions?
2. Why is it bad to require insurance companies to spend at least 80% of insurance premiums on actual health care, as opposed to executive salaries and bonuses?

The GOP has totally lost it’s mind. We are going to have to take drastic measures as American Citizens to keep from having our lives totally wiped out just so they can blackmail the country when they don’t get their way. We’ll be in a constant state of tyranny if they get their way by what they are doing. A regular citizen who was behaving like they are would have been arrested or hospitalized a long time ago.
“I thought you knew the answers when you asked this a week or so ago. Now it appears you did not even do any research to back those facts.”If you’re referring to the five questions about why Republicans hate the ACA, of course I don’t know the answers…I have no idea why anyone would be against these five things. So my “research” has been to ask the righties on here. Unfortunately, all they have done is run away with their tails between their legs. Wbr responded on the 10/9 Henry Payne thread, but rather than answer he just tried to weasel around them. And Brutowski gave a thoughtful reply on the 10/2 Handelsman thread, but even he couldn’t answer some of them because he wasn’t against them.I notice that you, too, didn’t even attempt to answer the five questions, just like the vast majority of the other righties during the last week. Interesting that you’re all rabidly against the ACA, yet you can’t explain why it is you’re against it when presented with the specifics.
1. Why do you want insurance companies to be able to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions?
This is a good rule, but it shouldn’t require me to purchase health care that I will never use.
2. Why is it bad to require insurance companies to spend at least 80% of insurance premiums on actual health care, as opposed to executive salaries and bonuses?
See response to #1.
3. Why is it bad for dependents to be able to stay on their parents’ policy until age 26, instead of making them get more expensive care at a younger age?
See response to #1.
4. Why do you like lifetime insurance caps?
See response to #1.
5. Why is it better to have millions of people uninsured who then use emergency rooms for routine care, costing far more?
Low income persons will still use the emergency room. They do not have the income, or do not want to spend what little income they have, on routine doctor visits. I know, I’ve been there. The ACA will not change the way people behave regarding medical. It will force those of us with no wish to ever visit a doctor to purchase expensive insurance that will never be used. THAT is what is wrong.
For the record – first time posting, but I have been reading the comments for years. I voted for Obama in 2008, but changed my vote in 2012 because of ACA.

No, a few hundred screaming Tea Babies are whining over losing. As in “Batman”, there are just some people who want to burn the world down.
