Hitler took power in Germany when the economy collapsed in the 1930’s. That collapse was due, in part, to the stock market crash in the United States, which had been brought about by mismanagement and lack of regulation. Then Hitler played on people’s fears and prejudices, offered opportunities for big profits to oligarchs in business, promised solutions to Germany’s problems, and became leader. He assumed more and more power, imposed morality laws, continued the us vs. them mentality, both inside the country and against other countries, suppressed opposition, crushed unions. Hitler and the Nazis created the Holocaust and World War II.That’s History 101 background. Now, let’s apply that to current affairs. If the United States economy and the world economy suffers because the US Congress fails to authorize paying its debts, who gains? Who will try to assume power? Who will be responsible for creating a situation of grave danger to the country and the world?
If the Democrats are smart, they’ll buy up as many political consulting firms and advertising agencies as possible between now and 2014. Then let the GOP spend billions there trying to get their candidates elected to positions they haven’t a prayer in hell of winning. And, if I may digress for a moment: WENDY DAVIS FOR TEXAS GOVERNOR!
Respectfully, I have to say that I find your argument unconvincing.
If the Republicans in the house were not threatening a default, the president would not be compelled to respond to it. What would they and the commentators say if he did not respond?
The last default crisis resulted in a downgrade of our country’s credit rating, loss of consumer confidence and decline in the stock market. I think it is highly irresponsible to threaten it again.
It’s the law. If someone wants a law changed, shouldn’t it come through open, honest debate?
Waiting for details, but it seems Obama is able to use our troops in Somalia and Libya more effectively while Republicans have “shut down’ the government”, than “W” was able to accomplish in eight years of screwing up.
I’d say Obama, even if too young to be drafted in ’Nam, or serving domestically to aid people, is a much more effective Commander in Chief than the N.G. wonder ever was.
Petty? Like you suggesting medications for paranoia to another poster you didn’t agree with, very immature! But, when Ansonia says things like that, it’s…
Another moronic statement from you. Are you going to name the terrorists you claim he embraced, or is this just another gas bubble farted from your mouth?
Other than the fact that he’s African-American, why exactly do you hate President Obama so much? Since he was elected, the states of the old confederacy have been constantly trying to fight the Civil War all over again.
Which of these taker (loser) states do you live in, or do you just watch too much fox “news?”
