Ted Cruz is a perfect example of how a grass roots campaign (the Tea Parties budget reduction) can be totally distorted by politics. Add to that the failure of the Republican party to offer tangible alternatives to democratic programs for fear of losing elections. John Boehner needs to get the message that this is the 21st century, people evolve and maintaining the status quo doesn’t work in today’s culture.
You have completely missed the point. The Democrats are patiently sitting back and watching ted cruz lead the repubs over the cliff. It’s not the Democrats who are imploding; it’s the repubs. Behind the scenes, they are trying to disown him, because they know that he’s set them up to take a fall while he has padded his campaign chest. This is all about him establishing himself as a power broker. His ego knows no bounds, and he obviously doesn’t care who gets hurt because of his little adventure for attention. What’s surprising is that the repubs, with all of their corporate and wall street donors behind them have allowed him to assume this status. It’s pretty obvious that they have nothing to offer as alternatives. All they’ve stood FOR in the last 5 years is to try and block everything President Obama has tried to accomplish. It’s sad that these rich, old, white guys are watching the power they’ve held for decades slip right through their fingers, and their main solution appears to be to try to keep people from voting in the next election.
