Some pretty sophisticated thieves to steal a 727 and disable the gps beacon and transponder and then hide it. I’m surprised the DHS hasn’t gone crazy looking for it!

The stolen 727 was almost 30 years old (manufactured in 1975), was grounded for 14 months prior to the theft, and was at the moment converted for a different Airline. Due to the age, I might think it didn’t have a “GPS Beacon” and Transponder in General Aviation can be simply turned off. They are, after all, mostly used in Air Traffic Control, not really to keep an eye out when the planes are in flight (Transponder squawk codes are limited, there are FAR more planes out there in the air.) Real pilots might correct me in that if I’m wrong, I’m only a slightly informed low-level sim pilot. Here is a link for more info:http://www.airspacemag.com/history-of-flight/The-727-that-Vanished.html

Actually, that is how the punk movement got started in England—kids did things deliberately to make themselves unemployable, thus being able to live off the dole for the rest of their lives.

Not as impressive as the Jamaican beach theft of 2008. It was estimated to have required 500 dump trucks, yet the culprits were never discovered.

That 727 is probably in the same place that the pallet with 6 billion dollars on it is.
