This is what happens when only one party and their donors make all of the decisions in a hurry. Even their friends get upset at the results. It would be a true benefit to all Americans were both parties to decide to sit down in their various committees to talk to experts in the medical, insurance, and other related fields to create a truly intelligently designed and bipartisan approach to the long term costs and effectiveness of healthcare reform.I will not hold my breath…. but I may sigh a lot in sadness.Respectfully,C.
You left out one operative word in that David: Illegally..Obama has zero legal authority within the ACA to selectively waiver anyone or any group from its requirements. That the bill, as you admit, is full of negative consequences is only one more clear reason to allow Congress to either delay implementation of the whole thing until it is fixed (which is likely never), or abolish it and try again. As it is, whatever Obama does legally or illegally with the ACA it will negatively impact the economy and lives of most Americans.
No, you would be wrong. The waivers Obama granted were to specific groups and corporations, etc., not blanket ones. Delaying provisions of the law is also a violation of it as there were specific time lines included for many provisions. Obama delayed these selectively where they would be politically negative in effect such as raising taxes on medical device suppliers..You cannot fix or improve something so convoluted and complex as a 2700+ page bill filled with all sorts of nonsense. Better to scrap it and start over than try and “improve” what is proving to be worse than an Edsel..Aside from that, the bill will not fix the health insurance system since it essentially leaves it intact and adds a massive layer of government bureaucracy. The system needed to be changed to some other one rather than just having the “deck chairs” rearranged to use the common analogy.
Oh, the number of uninsured today is closer to 50 million up from the 25 or so million when Obamacare was passed.
Obama passed the conservative vision for health care reform & the unions just realized that. So, does this mean conservatives are now ready to vote for Single Payer? I doubt it.
“The major problem with you post is you leave out The Democrats do to want to make these changes and Obama vowed to veto any bill that changes any part of The ACA.
It can be fixed today, but the Democrats refuse to fix it."-Maybe you can cite all the proposals Republicans have made to fix something in the ACA law. Or even one.-Dishonest, even for a Fox “news” viewer.
The unions want the bill modified, like including sing’e payer, not scrapped. The “conservatives” got what they wanted into the bill, and those ARE the biggest problems with the bill, period.
AS TO " “conservative”, the term is totally mis-used by those in the TEA party faction, as they are NOT in any way conservatives, or actual “Republicans” any longer.
Too many concessions were given to get the bill passed, and yes, it had to pass to “know what was in it”, because in actuality, until the implementing regulations are in place, the bill in a functional sense, doesn’t even exist. THAT is what the delay of certain portions represents, the delay in writing the implementing regulations!
The majority opposing everything Obama does, or comes up with is in a faction of Republicans, and yes, a good many Democrats as well, it IS an issue of “Black and White”. He IS one and not the other, period.
It only took the Union knuckle-draggers three years to figure out what a pile of crap Obamacare is. Who says they aren’t trainable? So much for the GOP thinking they could find common cause with the unions.
I did some digging into the claim that specific companies & insurance groups were granted waivers. There seems to be some truth to that.http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/money/industries/health/2010-10-07-healthlaw07_ST_N.htmI have not found anything that indicates this is breaking any law. I presume the Executive Branch is granted some leeway in implementing the law & is exercising that power. The waivers are temporary. A reasonable person would conclude that Obama is acting like the pro-business moderate that he is by bending to pressure from large corporations. There is no one, & I mean no one who claims the ACA is perfect as is. Most would like to see the problems fixed, but a minority are willing to go to any lengths to stop implementation.
Modification, yea that means the Unions don’t like it when they have to play by the same rules. Well modify this. The same with Congress, if we have to live under this poorly written act they do too.
So if Barry can pick and choose which parts of the Unaffordable Act he can put to work or not, what’s to stop him from doing the same with the Constitution? All or none, we are a nation of laws, no one, not even Barry and Moochelle are above it. They need to take a private plane on vacation like the rest of us.
Let’s remember one thing, health insurance is not health care. If you have life insurance, you still die. Having coverage doesn’t mean you get to see a doctor. Doesn’t mean you get treated. Doesn’t mean you get well. You may know how to SCUBA dive, doesn’t mean you can in the desert.
the Senate voted twice Monday to reject House efforts to delay the individual mandate and repeal a 2.3% tax on medical devices enacted to help pay for the law. The House’s proposal also would eliminate a proposed subsidy to members of Congress, their staffs, and members of the Obama administration to buy insurance in the new system // why is this a bad idea?
the refusal of traitor reid not to even allow The second measure would have kept the government open in exchange for delaying the health care law’s individual mandate and eliminating federal health care contributions for lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides.to be voted on is real treason
And Chip Bok is now lined up with the Teamsters in favor of collective bargaining. Of course, he needs to ignore the fact that a Republican introduced a bill to specifically forbid changing the law to accommodate union agreements on health insurance. But, hey, at least he’s now in favor of unions. Maybe he’s coming around! (Just kidding.)
