I think he meant to say that Cruz is ‘blowing the whistle’ to stop the ACA, but that’s far from what is required. I think he also meant to point out that Cruz seems to be the lone defender on the beach. Otherwise, this toon would seem to be mocking Cruz for resisting the inevitable, which I don’t think is Payne’s point.I think Payne opened himself to the obvious (and, hilarious, IMO) comparisons to the German defenders at Omaha Beach.
The birthers contention was that even though Obama was born to an American mother, he was born in a foreign country — and THAT made him ineligible.^Applying those same criteria to Cruz means that he is constitutionally not eligible to be president. ^If Cruz and Obama are both eligible despite being born in a foreign country, why do you care about his birth certificate. Two newspapers in Hawaii printed an announcement of his birth. Even if you were somehow proved correct what would it matter?-Maybe Donald Trump’s people on the ground will turn up new evidence. Then, it’ll be huge. HUGE!
