You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but they will do the tricks behind your back.

You used to be able to comment some time ago but apparently he got irritated at some of the comments.

An FYI that they will also turn off the comments if readers are being vulgar and rude. One site turned them off when a parent commented that her kids view the comments and to write such vulgar and rude things was not something any kid should have to read. Personally, I don’t like reading all the comments that some post when they are putting Opal down. This couple reminds me of any grandpa and grandma and how they’ve evolved into their golden years. I would hate to see the comments turned off because of a few haters. Just read the comic and if you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all.

Luann got that way for awhile. Got to be a lot in fighting and nothing to do with comics. I think they could be tagged and then booted off the comment site.

Today’s strip reminded me of that “Looney Tunes” cartoon with the singing/dancing frog who only did his routine when only his current owner was watching, never when it could lead to fame and fortune.

@rdh288: It started as a really fun forum discussing Pibgorn mostly. After a time, some trolls began attacking 9 Chickweed Lane, reposting it as porn, etc, and Mr McEldowney stopped the comments. Unfortunately, the Pibgorn forum went from discussing the strip to trying to anticipate what would happen; the anticipation began getting out of hand. Mr McEldowney planned to pull the comments after a brief notification. For some reason, Comics.com abruptly ended them with no warning, and many of the forum freaked entirely, blaming Mr McEldowney. Since then, comments have not been allowed on either strip. Regrettable, but it is his work, and it is his choice.

I can see why the artist disabled comments. For one thing it’s funny, and for another it actually makes jokes about a subject far too many ’Mericuns are terrified of.
