I read an interview somewhere, sometime ago with an international model. She said she found it lonely being a woman in the fashion industry. Relationships were difficult to sustain mainly, she said, because the men she dated found it difficult to cope with the attention she received from other men as a result of her fame.

I prefer cute to gorgeous. Beautiful women too often learn early that they don’t have to be anything but beautiful. It’s like being rich. It confers power and privilege, and, as the saying goes, power tends to corrupt. Not everyone. There are some who handle it well, and use it for good purposes, but there are the other kind. Come to think of it, powerlessness corrupts to: just in a different way. Ugly people often become much nicer to compensate, or mean and bitter.

Ah, the burden of being gorgeous. I think I handle it quite well. For a guy.

Peering into my crystal ball, I predict that Toggle will be initially transfixed by Drew’s beauty, that Alex will temporarily despair, but that it will all be OK in the end, and that Toggle and Alex will even get married. That’s just a guess, though…

I’m fairly plain myself; how do you feel about shy and bookish brunettes,Clarky?

I like women with spirit and fire. I’m fortunate too have a good wife with those qualities and she’s easy on my eyes as well.
