Sad but true. Why is it that the percentage of married blacks has plummeted so dramatically in the last 40 years? I think the problem actually started with LBJ’s Great Society – where he decided to start giving out money to people for doing nothing.
I’ve seen surveys that show that over 50% of ALL births are to unwed mothers! (race isn’t one-sided) The REAL cause of lack of “responsibility” shown by “fathers” isn’t a result of the “nanny state” but rather the “me first and only” mentality in our culture promoted, actually, by the right!
It’s interesting the comparison of the “don’t tax me” guys to the ones in the same line who reject paying child support. They also tend to be in the chickenhawk support brigade. As in , yep, let’s bomb ‘em, but don’t send ME in! (applies to the military AND the “fatherhood army”.)

Dr. Bill Cosby has expressed some good thoughts on the issue over the years. And, yes, Obama HAS addressed parental responsibility, in part by example.
With serial marriage also being so prevalent in the U.S., it doesn’t help. When “blended” families may have kids from five different fathers, what’s the message??
