OMG, what a disaster!!! No boots on the ground!!! No US casualties!!! A deal!!!! What a disaster!!!! Obama is such an idiot and a fool, just playing golf all the time, he really blew this one!!!!+http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24093797Foreign Secretary William Hague has welcomed a US-Russian agreement to eliminate Syria’s chemical weapons as a “significant step forward”. He spoke to US Secretary of State John Kerry after a framework was outlined. Mr Hague said there now must be “full and prompt implementation… to ensure the transfer of Syria’s chemical weapons to international control”. He is due to travel to Paris on Monday to discuss the issue with Mr Kerry and the French foreign minister.Under the agreement, Syria must hand over a full list of its stockpile within a week and destroy or remove its chemical weapons by mid-2014.If Syria fails to comply, the deal could be enforced by a UN resolution backed by the threat of sanctions or military force.Mr Hague has been pushing for an international response to a chemical attack in Damascus last month which the UK and the US blamed on the Syrian government. President Bashar al-Assad’s regime has accused rebels of carrying out the attack. The possibility of Syria handing over its chemical weapons was publicly raised for the first time by Mr Kerry at a press conference with Mr Hague in London last week.In a statement, the foreign secretary said his discussions with Mr Kerry and Laurent Fabius on Monday would cover “the way forward, including action at the United Nations Security Council”.He added: "The onus is now on the Assad regime to comply with this agreement in full. The international community, including Russia, must hold the regime to account. “This includes doing everything we can to stop the continuing bloodshed in Syria, bringing all sides together to agree a political solution to the conflict.”Shadow foreign secretary Douglas Alexander said the removal of Syria’s chemical weapons would “represent a dramatic step forward”.He added: "While this offer deserves a cautious welcome, the international community must work to establish whether this latest proposal is a serious initiative.“Primary responsibility now lies with Assad who must take clear and verifiable steps to show that he is serious about handing over chemical weapons.”More than 100,000 people have died since the uprising against President Assad began in 2011. Millions of Syrians have been displaced. In a joint news conference in Geneva with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Mr Kerry called on the Assad government to live up to its public commitments.

A reporter asked a simple “what would it take” question and Mr. Kerry’s off the cuff, almost patronizing, answer was snatched up like the last glass of water in the middle of the desert by Russia and Syria. No one knows what the results are going to be, especially with Syria wanting to be rewarded for agreeing to go along with it while continuing to kill their own people with conventional weapons. But now Russia owns a piece of whatever outcomes occurs and Mr. Putin dislikes it when people embarrass him. What was it he served that journalist? Polonium? Cocktail, Mr. Assad?Even if it turns out that Mr. Kerry tripped and fell on top a solution like a clown falling face first into pie, any solution that keeps the US from leading on another war while stopping future use of gas is a good thing.Respectfully,C.

You shouldn’t hold back, Rv. Let go and tell folks what you REALLY think.Sorry for the bad joke, but dude… you’re a bit intense. When you say “you people”, do you mean conservatives? I’m considered a tree kissing, demtard by many on the right and I saw the press conference where Mr. Kerry gave what I thought was a rather patronizing answer. He also said, “but it’s not going to happen.” and that was because at the time, Russia was blocking anything that went before the UN council re: Syria. I do consider an accidental solution to be just as good as a deliberate one and hope it comes to fruition, but I am curious. Who are “You People” and are you a US citizen? Just curious, I actually love the fact that GC attracts intrn’l commentators like Dr. Canuck, MortyforTyrant, OmqR, and others. Forgive my facetiousness if you can,Respectfully,C.

I believe that the US will not attack Syria anytime soon, and that’s good. I believe that the UN will take on the problem of Syrian WMDs, and that’s a good thing. I believe that Russia has some ownership of trying to find a solution to this problem, and that’s a good thing. You and Joseph Heller have nothing in common.

The right side of the brain is said the harbor the “artistic” side of our actions. The “right” side of our political spectrum has become artless and brainless, proving more deficient daily!

Just noting Ramirez’s typical artistic skills have even failed on this one.

^Romney? He wasn’t THAT bad, but Palin however? Scariest thought in political history is that she might have been a heartbeat away from the Oval Office, and McCain’s age made it doubly scary, and his brushes with cancer!!
