I always loved Al’s look on life. Very logical in the end times, doesn’t get hung up on the little things.

Death lives in the Big Box, too. It’s not like you’ve escaped it just because you’re in Endtown.

There’s a cave full of dead from the riots. That’ll free up some resources. Maybe Jackrabbit had that in mind, and plans to engineer more conflicts to relieve pressures. For the greater good.

Deaths to die, huh. Well, Al should know. Been there, done that as it were. I think it’s fair to say that dying most likely changes your perspective on life. ;-)

Worst apocalypse ever. No leather jackets, no hockey masks, no explosions. Just politics. I like my apocalypse better.

This dialog is beautifully written. The tempo of Endtown rises and falls like ocean waves. Last week, it was Holly in hospital, then Cooper bitching in the bar. Then a fracas in the street with unknown election assistants in the street. A loose thread, with the plot seemingly having lost momentum. And then we take up the slack again: two of the characters, whom we know full well and love, meet properly for the first time at a crisis. One saves the other, and the other sets the first on the road to resolution of his crisis. And once again, the gentle wave is starting its rise. The tempo slowly starts to rise. But how elegantly Mr Neathery encapsulates it in words. Poetical, whimsical, ironic, bitter and resolved. In four panels and ten speech balloons, he has sketched out a new story. The actions, the motivations and the emotions. When I read Endtown, some small part inside me weeps, always for one reason or another.

It looks like we may be taking another trip out of Endtown and see more of this world. Petey would definitely go with them.

Yes, both you and dadof3 have it right. The question is how does it change you and what do you do to continue.Life does continue. You change course and go on.This is a prickly decision for Wally.Al is displaying what everyone else is feeling. Boredom. You can only view so much at the cinema, listen to so much radio, view so much TV.But as I say Topside is Suicide given current conditions. It may and I think necessary to go topside and take the war to the Topsiders.Fight a non linear war. Guerrilla tactics, hit and run, hide around the ruins, make the Topsiders expend huge resources chasing shadows. But first things first…..get that damn satellite out of orbit or destroy the ability to communicate with it. Hack the thing and use it themselves. Flask was hacking all over Topsiders. They told her they knew what she was up to. If it can be done once it can be done again and use better tactics to avoid being found. If you stay, you stay, either tough it out or make a difference. Not everyone is a Jackrabbit supporter. Right now its two camps. There is room for more.I can disagree with Al on one thing. Wally made it as one person. Very hard to find one person in all that desolation. Now have two. Find depleted resources. Avoid patrols. Mutts. Aerial units. Satellite surveillance. And Wally did get caught finally. Long time to run but he still got caught. As Wally said“Deaths to die.” A good way to put it.

I am a little surprised at Al’s advice. I figured that dying once, and almost getting him and Gustine killed several times would make him reluctant to encourage leaving. I’m guessing he doesn’t know about the satellite.

Going to be a good game for sure.Aerial assault or defensive battle? What do you think?I drift towards aerial maybe not at the start but by the middle of third quarter into the fourth. Legs begin to wear out about then.My team is anyone who beats Dallas. We here have to put up with King Jones and his misfit band of criminals (ha! but somewhat true).I like the Texans just because they are new.Back in the day old B’more Colts fan.Smash mouth football.Nothing scarier than Jack Lambert coming at you with that toothless face. Ditka in full stride coming straight at you. Jack Tatum the assassin. If there ain’t blood you ain’t playing hard enough.Best commercial early sports one don’t remember the name but remember the action. You in football helmet looking out the mask. You look up seeing Tatum way back working back and forth. You look to see the ball into you hands. You turn and Tatum is in your face mask at full speed. Blue sky.All I could say was “OUCH”

In previous posts it was stated that the dunerunner would only be good for a few hundred miles. This is assuming it ran on gas or diesel. I ask “Why does it have to?” It could run on anything the duck dreams up and las near to forever. Think about it. If they can have a wind-up ray gun, why not a wind-up car? It could go forever and it would explain why the back of the thing is so big, to hold the mainspring and hide the wind-up key from us who have the picture.

Since the Dunerunner is not my creation, I can only guess what Aaron powered it with. It might be an internal combustion vehicle (it is built by Krupp and is probably prewar) or it could use whatever powers the Personal Transporter.I’ve often wondered about aircraft. Might the Topsiders have have a flying PT based on Airscout technology? A more interesting idea would be a more aerodynamic variant of the Lucranean salvage vessel, using a fusion reactor to power both the ship’s antigravity and its electric propellor system. The ship would use its variable pitch propellers to provide fwd/aft thrust and aerodynamic control surfaces (with stub wings) to provide flight control. I could imagine something like the Wilson Personal Explorer (see link) with stubby little wings to provide roll control.http://www.airliners.net/photo/Wilson-Private-Explorer/1479465/

That is so true. Now if we can get tickets at 1970 prices that would be good.I heard that the ruse of using those small bags was not so much a security issue. It was a smuggling issue. Fans bringing in their own beer, drinks, and food. Nascar is attempting to do the same thing like banning coolers and large bags.$12.50 (American) for a 12oz beer does seem reasonable to me. (??)Have you seen the Boomstick hot dog they sell here at the Rangers stadium. Its like 24 inches long and covered with whatever you like including steak or BBQ. 26 dollars a pop. One of my fellow troopers ate one…..by himself…..he paid later for the discomfort.

Also the Packers were always a great team. They all are good teams, lots of talent but now lots of Divas.I can remember when the players were so home bodies. Reachable, friendly, polite when not on the field now on the field then its Send the Children to bed. Violence will now begin. Here comes Riggins up the middle…….brace for collision.Csonka and Kick.I remember watching the old Houston Oilers train in San Angelo back years ago. I saw Earl Campbell and Robert Brazile running sprints together. Brazile 6’4 230 Campbell 5’11 244 running at 4.5 40 yard dash speeds. I never seen guys that big run that fast and then change directions.Amazing. The one stat some folks don’t know is Campbell while at Texas knocked Bevo the long horn mascot down when he ran out of bounds one time colliding with the animal on the side lines. Campbell jumped right up. Bevo took a few minutes to recover.

I like the Skins but not a big RGIII fan. Too much Diva. He should shut up and listen to the coach instead of whine, whine, whine.I see the same thing happening to Johnny Football when he comes out next year. He will never finish at A&M. He believes he is TOO good for college. That is when I like some paid NFL salary lineman cleans one of their clocks in a sack and say “Welcome to the Pro’s son, we play for real here….Enjoy your millions.”That to me is the issue…..too much cash flung around. And a old timer said one time on NFL network he hates all the bro stuff going on when the game is over. All the hugs and kisses, swapping phone numbers, making dates when against your rivals. That is okay to be a sport afterwards but now its like long lost family meetings.I mean a loser that seems happy they got beat by swapping phone numbers and bro hugging?? Shake his hand with an angry look but HUGGING?Its okay to be a sport but not so dang friendly about it.

“How much do we know about this world pre-Gobal Holocaust? Did they have the Internet or just computers an mainframes or something quite different?”Go back and re-examine the part where Sparkplug works at Apex during his flashback. Hillside looks a lot like our universe 20-30 years into the future. There’s probably a version of the internet, maybe they have net 2.0 by now.
