Worker pay has not. The CEO got paid $8.75 million in 2011. should only the burger flippers get $15.00 – most factory jobs I know only pay 8-12.00 an hour to start with .25 to .50 per year in raise if even that. When the minimum wage goes to $15.00 the owners will only raise the prices to meet the same profits so in essence no one will get a raise and the ones who were making $15.00 will now be making minimum wage as well as the burger flippers – you can rest assured that once the minimum wage is raised the ones who were making $15.00 won’t get the increase they deserve either. Thus we will have a country full of minimum wagers – just what the Liberal Dem’s want – no middle class only rich and poor.

you are an idiot if you think it will only be a dollar a sandwich – it will not only be burgers but milk, meat, gas – everything. Open your eyes – when the minimum wage raises so does prices on everything else – factory owners will adjust to make thier profits…

True, Mr. Bane.I could have, and should have, made my point without addressing the comment made by you and another conservative poster.While traveling last week, we stopped at Bojangles, KFC, Arby’s, & several other chain fast food stores. In each place, most of the workers I saw were over 30 with at least two over 50 at each. Reading the posts of people whose writings give an appearance of contempt for those they feel are simply not trying hard enough to do better, by tone if not by actual content, is no excuse for making a personal attack.My apologies.I will resubmit my post without the lines you fine offensive.C.

(resubmitted with revision)There are too many people who seem unaware that the majority of those working at minimum wage are underemployed or underpaid in other jobs and instead of working a 40 hour week, are working sixty or more just to survive. Their children are unsupervised while parents are forced by our stagnant economy, poor educational foundations, and… let’s be fair, bad decisions made when they themselves were teens and young adults. In the meantime, CEOs in businesses across the board are getting record profits and bonuses and the stock market is well above where it was in 2008.Looking at the pay and bonuses received by executives in charge of these companies, it is hard to by sympathetic to their cries that giving workers a living wage will hurt their businesses. If anything, by raising prices, people may decide to go to a restaurant with a salad bar instead of a burger and fry place since, according to executives, they’d have to raise prices so much.If I have to pay a dollar more per sandwich in order for millions of my neighbors to get a living wage, then so be it. It is a small spirit, a harsh heart, and a narrow mind that begrudges their neighbors a better quality of life just so they can pay 15 to 20% less per item. The sales tax on fast food in my town is over 11%. In a town nearby me, it’s 5%. The prices for the food are all the same.Respectfully,C.

When in college, a guy I worked one of my jobs (2 at the time to pay the rent and eat!) with was working HIS third job, because of what he had to pay his ex-wife, AND her LAWYER!! Such is the “equality” guaranteed with a law degree, and the ethics of a clam, or a Cheney?

‘Educate yourself. The local McDonalds, etc., is not owned by the company. It is a franchise, owned by John Doe down the street, who is probably just scraping by. So pay the part time teenage workers $15.00 an hour and watch the price of that burger go to $6.00, people stay away in droves, and then the business close. Sound good to you?’-Educate yourself, love the concept. Is it your belief that John Doe, the McDonald’s franchise owner, gets to buy his supplies, meat, buns, condiments, napkins, cash registers, menus, logos, furniture, etc. from wherever he can find the lowest prices?-Or is he required to buy all that stuff from The Corporation?
