The fog of war: We need to send a message that chemical weapons won't ever be tolerated. And we ought to do it with the backing of the U.N... unless they refuse. And it needs to be a real shot across the bow or even a bit into the bow itself. And it needs to be punishing but not destabilizing, not regime change but a serious bloody nose... perhaps a boxing of the ears. With the backing of congress... unless they don't... in which case we'll do something anyway.

Obama is leading, since you haven’t noticed. The real sad case is Mitch McConnell, who STILL can’t say whether he would vote for or against the senate proposal. Because saying “yes” could hurt him in a primary, and saying “no” will hurt him in the general election. What’s good for the COUNTRY is irrelevant to him, only what’s good for his future career. So he’s paralyzed with fear. And they call him Senate Leader? It’s pathetic.

It should be remembered that Patton WAS a jerk! Going to war, which is ANY TIME YOU BOMB SOMEONE, should be an absolute last option. Even if it does distress the “defense” industries to reduce their profit margins, we shouldn’t even be lobbing bombs from a “safe” position, maybe ESPECIALLY from a “safe position”.
