Some places (like here) there are free dental clinics for poor children…but usually they’re just for emergency care, so no one says “Come back in six months.”
The give the kids a free toothbrush and a pamphlet about flossing and hope for no more emergencies that might bring them back.

He was the artist of “Brevity” (“verbals” written by Guy Endore-Kaiser) and very kindly drew me when the strip moved to GoComics in 2011, cos I’d been a faithful fan and commenter for years on Comics.com.
I sent him a photo, and what you see is the (rather fanciful) result.
Dan Thompson took over “Brevity” in Jan 2012… and I’ve lost contact with Rodd…. but I still feel privileged, and grateful, to have this avatar…

Nobody would ever bother to cartoon me (and as I was told most of my life I resembled Debby) I borrowed a cartoon/show poster of hers and changed the hair and name on it to use as my own. That is a good current of her and I’ll try to do a similar pose tomorrow (smile with my eyes open and different hair).

It must be the free clinic. The Basic chair, The old style spit basin, and the strip of cloth instead of a paper mask!
