I’m still listening to “today’s music” — at least some of it — and enjoy it, along with the music I listen to from the past sixty years (I like rock ‘n’ roll, so sue me). MTV, on the other hand…and Miley Cyrus…ick.
“Next years Super Bowl headliner! Mr Snare, what’s worse, a racy musical performance or a president who mainstreams oral sex?”oral sex is mainstream. and it wasn’t the president who “mainstreamed it”, it was the republicans out to get him that made it an issue.
Sorry do not care how much money she makes but do care that she is taking the morals of this country down. We are not learning from history this is what has taken all great civilizations down. Sorry again GOP does not mind people making money but how is the problem. I guess I can come over and rob you that is ok by you it is the land of the free.
Prurience has had, and will always have, its audience. However, for those that want to find it, there is plenty of new art, music, literature, et al, to improve the human condition.
what took you so long… that should have been a couple years in the making now. In the end, I just feel really bad for Miley and her family. I know her father really feels like garbage for trying to be a friend rather than a father for all those years.
Once ANYTHING is “out there” on the ‘net…I can see Miley’s kids and grandkids seeing it. Did she think at all about how permanently exposed she was going to be?
All the kids sending “sexting”, and nude pictures of themselves…do they realize that once it’s out there…it will haunt them forever?
Hmm, remember when the Beatles were considered “obscene” because of their haircuts? John and Paul of course wrote some fantastic music, still good today.
What gets me about “performances” today, is that fireworks, “dancing”, and movement have replaced lyrics that are understandable, or in most cases, have anything to say. RAP often has something to say, but it’s not “melodic”, and too rarely intelligible to make it worth listening to.
There are, fortunately, still some good musicians and acts out there, but they aren’t the ones making the most money!
As to Miley, it’s just the result of too much, too young, but that’s a problem that goes back a long way, like Romeo and Juliet.
