Sorry Harley, but I see absolutely no laws that stop you or anybody else from buying legal guns (hand guns, rifles, or shot guns, even so called semi automatic assault guns), here in California, or anywhere else in the USA. And, as there are some 200 million such guns in the USA, then according to your statement, there should be some 200 million criminals to match!!
There is a neat show on the Military Channel about snipers.The other day they took a 50 caliber rifle and shot two people with one shot. Everyone needs one of those.

I was not able to find the cost, but I watched videos of reenacted snipers shooting through block walls and armor plate.

If you’re going to defend the second amendment, defend it as a whole, not just the second half of it:
“A WELL REGULATED MILITIA, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
The second amendment’s right to bear arms is DEPENDENT ON “a well regulated militia”. It is NOT a carte blanche right!
