The ‘Good Old Days’ when we had a Future worth looking forward to!

I saw a sign in the late 70’s that said:

“Once We Get to the Asteroid Belt the IRS will never Find us!”

Wanna guess why they ripped the guts out of the Space Program? Can’t have the Slaves, sorry “Tax Payers,” getting away, now can we?

Isn’t this the point when ConservGov and other commenters (who hang out in the Doonesbury and Tom Toles strip) explain how we all benefit from government Deregulation?

How does Rover know all this? Does he read the encyclopedia?

The choice wasn’t working 15 hours a day versus going to school, playing in the meadows, or lazing under an apple tree. The choice was working 15 hours a day or starving. Child labor laws, like many others, only became possible after the country had become prosperous enough to afford to let the children go to school, play in the meadows, or laze under an apple tree.
