Zipi, you forget that Washington DC is governed and budgeted by out-of-state radical red-neck thugs with no interest in the needs of the citizens, who meddle in their lives incessantly. And talk about “gimmies,” Washington DC gets less federal funding per capita ($0.30 per $1 in taxes) than Ron Paul’s Kentucky ($1.57 per $1 in taxes) or any state below the Mason-Dixon line.
Did not know that John. Humorously sad. But it’s an intramural team so it means nothing since the debate is over professional teams and school teams.~This is really one of the many stupid P.C. issues out there. The vast majority of tribes don’t care and many even see what this represents, them being honored, especially their warrior spirit. Teams don’t pick names of people they are trying to insult or deride, they are picking representations that speak dominance, strength, pride, ability, fear into the opposition, and local relevance. If the issue is honoring a people rather than subjugating and maligning them, the pro sports and schools do far more to honor Native Americans than any other institution.
David, please, don’t use the suffix “tard” like the vile conservatives do (“Libtard”).People who are “retarded” can’t help the way they are. The clowns on the right can (at least should) be able to think clearly, but chose not to, which is “ignorant”Perhaps the words “Cons-ignorant” and their “Cons-ignorance” would be more accurate and less harsh to those who can’t help their condition.
Not at all. His loathing of the Tea Party is reflective of a larger trend. The Tea Party is to America in this decade what the Brown Shirts were to Germany in the ’30’s.
If they did this, the only ones complaining would be the left. Of course, it doesn’t fit in the lefts PC handbook as offensive, so there may not be any backlash?
“I knew quite a few Virginians that were still mad about losing the Civil War.”
Shows how much you know about Virginians. It’s “The War of Northern Aggression”. At best, it’s “The War Between the States”.
Interestingly, you will get more attitude and more confederate flag-flying in West Virginia, and they were on the side of the “aggressors”. The more north you go in the state, the more you see it. Go figure.
The whole professional sports scene is just a bunch of overpaid guys working for millionaires. The idea of rooting for your hometown team is ridiculous. I was a Cowboy fan for 50 years, with the idea slowly developing in my mind that this was just the modern day version of the Roman “bread and circuses”. The final blow was when they built a bazillion dollar stadium and named it after AT&T because that’s the people who paid the most for the priviledge. The heck with it— I’m rooting for the local high school team, and the heck with the business of football.
Actually, “Yankee Doodle” was from the Revolutionary War. Try “John Brown’s Body” (John Brown’s body lies a moulderin’ in the grave, but his truth goes marchin’ on).The Rebels hated that one.

University of Northern Colorado has an intramural basketball team named the ‘Fightin’ Whities’. Their logo is hilarious!
