In terms of foreign policy the effects of this are still felt, with many Americans believing that Russia should be submissive, at the end of the day it still holds a fair bit of power, never mind that on the Russian side of things, the hottest rhetoric is that Russia will never be defeated and that the Americans are seen as ( insert negative word here) for believing so
