    I lived in Canada during metrication and, as with any change, there was opposition. However, products existed in both US and Imperial measures (an Imperial gallon was five US quarts). When I heard complaints, I suggested a compromise between US and Imperial quarts as a start. All agreed. “Then we could call it a litre.” Sputters all around.
