Chores have to be negotiated between spouses – not delegated as if one were a child. And in those negotiations, each has to respect that one may not find a particular “chore” important or even necessary. Couples also have to figure out what’s equitable in terms of time, taking into account all work whether inside or outside of the home.
Do what my daughter did, go on strike. She got tired of cleaning, only to have the boys, 3 of them plus dad, just mess it up again. She works a full time job and so does dad and the kids are all in school but NO ONE was helping with cleaning or meals so she made them plan and prepare all the meals and clean up after, pick up the downstairs before bed and it wasn’t more than 2 days before they got the point. Now they help with no complaint.
John is a hard sell. Good luck with that. I just remember that when it comes to men, don’t use emotion as a weapon of first or last resort. I try to stick to the facts as it would benefit both. Well, off you go El, good hunting!

It takes more than one minute to teach a pet where to relieve itself, just as it takes more than one minute to teach a child some responsibility.I’m glad you don’t have pets; you would be the catwoman whose house is reported to code compliance officers. That would be because you keep" accepting responsibility" as the owner when the catsare not using the litter box without bothering to teach them that the litter box is where they’re supposed to go…..

You think that running a household, shopping, doing laundry, cleaning the house, preparing meals, and keeping a young child (two, during summer) occupied all day isn’t hard work? Try it some time, buster. Just because it’s not a paid position, that doesn’t mean that it’s not WORK.
