For fearlessly upholding the stand-your-ground laws of the state of Florida, we award you a lifetime membership in the N.R.A. You may bear arms again! Zimmerman
Perhaps Pat would feel differently if he were lying on the ground, with someone bigger, stronger, and younger on top of him beating him the face and breaking his nose. As tragic as it was, Trayvon was no angel. Read his tweets. Read about his fight club you tube videos ( they’ve been removed so you can no longer view them). Then start getting outraged at the number of young black men who die every day at the hands of other young black men.
Even though the phrase “Stand your ground” was not used by the defenseduring the trail, when it came to describing why George Zimmerman shot Travon Martin, the terms “in fear of his life” and “defending himself” were used. And, ultimately, I believe, that is the reason why the jury found G. Zimmerman not guilty. The conclusion is: If you shoot someone because you are in “fear of your life” that is not far different from “stand your ground” as they both amount to the same justification. That is the main reason why home owners are found not guilty by reason of “self defense” when they shoot someone who breaks into their homes or attacks them on the street. In the end, racism played no part in this incident.
Technically, “Stand Your Ground” was not used by Zimmerman’s attorneys, but the mentality behind “Stand Your Ground” has permeated the minds of Southerners, and in the minds of the Zimmerman jury, justified Trayvon’s murder.

Why do all these people who point to our justice system as the best in the world refuse to accept a verdict they don’t agree with?

All the toons I’ve seen so far on the Zimmerman trial today are so over-the-top as to be offensive and counter-productive. What a waste of energy

If that were true than Marissa Alexander wouldn’t have been given 20 years for firing a warning shot.

yes anytime a defendant gets off it is because of “shady police work and a prosecution not willing to prosecute.”
