If Rodney King had been shot, after being tased and getting up to begin choke a Sheriff’s deputy when they tried to arrest him, the tape never would have gone “viral” after being edited to NOT show him attacking the officer, except a couple times, and riots wouldn’t have led to over 70 deaths.

There are no tapes of the Martin/Zimmerman encounter, and the Florida laws on “self defense” may indeed have been the jury’s decision mandate, but when a bigger in actuality, guy, WITH a gun, follows and contacts a teenager he deems “suspicious”, after being told to NOT DO THAT, and the adult is NOT in uniform, and NOT a legitimate police officer, the question of who attacked who is NOT represented by this ’toon. The defense claiming a sidewalk is a weapon, then bringing a chunk of concrete he could carry into the courtroom, implying a sidewalk is moveable and a weapon, is theatrical, but definitely not accurate to the real world.

Two different cases, let’s hope nobody gets carried away with all the rhetoric, and repeats the idiocy of riots and violence.

“The direction of this event was established by Barack Obama, “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon” and continued by biased media.”I’d point my finger at the local police who were willing to sweep a killing under the rug.

Moral of the story seems to be, if someone is following you while you wander around the neighborhood, talking with a friend on the phone, shoot first.

No, the direction of this event was established when Zimmerman saw a black kid with a hoodie, decided incorrectly that he must be a criminal, and stalked him while packing a loaded gun.

“guy, WITH a gun, follows and contacts a teenager he deems “suspicious”, after being told to NOT DO THAT”

Another distortion. The non-emergency dispatcher that Zimmerman talked to advised Zimmerman not to follow, but did not issue a direct order because he lacked authority to do so. Zimmerman did NOT disobey police directives.

“Justice has been satisfied.”Is that how you felt after the O.J. Simpson verdict? I know I did not feel satisfied after that one.I only see race as a tangent in the case. Zimmerman’s defense did a good job of deflecting the charges that he ‘profiled’ Martin. Would Zimmerman have acted the same way if it was a white kid wandering around in the dark? Maybe he would. Would I be as bothered that an unarmed white kid was shot? Absolutely.Any parent should be uneasy about this verdict.

He didn’t get nearly what he deserves….Zimmerman had no business ‘following’ anybody. If he was concerned, he should have called the police and backed the hell off. That he didn’t even get manslaughter was astounding….Trayvon’s murder was a 21st century lynching.

Nice one, Lisa! I like how Trevon is using the media to beat him up.

“Or perhaps you should go home rather than jump them and try to beat their head into a concrete sidewalk.”.Natasha Richardson died one hour after slamming her head on snow covered ground. Anyone with any sense knows that head injuries can be fatal. If someone is slamming my head on the ground, you can bet your life that I’ll make an effort to defend my own.

“I find it odd that so often we are told we are to be alert and inform the police when we see something suspsious in the neighborhood, which is this instance was a very racialy mixed one, which is exactly what Zimmerman was doing…”No, Zimmerman was CHASING A KID IN THE DARK! Trayvon Martin wasn’t doing anything wrong, yet found himself being followed & eventually chased by a stranger. What happened to his “Stand Your Ground”? He was a teenage boy, and despite your snide remarks about him being troubled, Zimmerman had his own “troubled” past. Would Zimmerman have gone down that dark path after Trayvon Martin if he wasn’t armed? I doubt it.This is a tragedy, even for Zimmerman. He is no doubt relieved, but hasn’t stooped so low as to suggest Trayvon Martin deserved to die. For some people, it’s a disgusting celebration of the power of guns.

Trayvon was suspended from school for smokin pot, hardly what I’d call a “crime spree”. Zimmerman’s record is far more “checkered”, and he was considered by many cops a pest, nusiance, and potentially dangerous. Then there’s the molestation charge they got suppressed.

As to all the ranting from the right on “liberals” making the case “racial”, anyone note that Zimmerman identified Trayvon as “suspicious” because of his race, and hoodie, period. HE was the one who made it “racist”.

Also a smart move by the defense not letting him testify, as he then didn’t have to purjor himself under any potential cross examination.

Lastly, the D.A. and prosecution screwed up by not making the case for manslaughter a lot stronger, because that is the LEAST he should have been convicted of. (It’s also important to know what the specifics of FLORIDA law are, and btw, when I saw the defense show his version of “beyond a reasonable doubt” for conviction, it went WAY above any I’ve seen in either federal or several state courts.

You are correct. Sad in a very real way that we have to think like that now. But true.

Travon Martin was not the victim any more, or less, than George Zimmerman was the victim.
