My dad was a master baker, and hated everything “Hostess” made, especially “Wonder Bread”, which was as nutritious, almost, as eating the wrapper, and just as sythetic.
If we give up gasoline it would be an inconvience, but more active ways of moving people and all their stuff around do exist. We could use more inventors of PPV’s.
I worked as a cost accountant at Continental Baking in the late 70s, When I saw the ingredients schedule for the twinkies, cupcakes…then I knew I was working at a chemical processing plan.
The Fruit Pies are a different story: the fruit was genuine frozen. fruit minimal additives in the fruit; The dough was real dough…flour, water sugar, vegetable oil.
The honey buns…. they were much the same as the Fruit pies.

Is that because our border fence is working? (Sorry, I couldn’t resist. I hope we’re actually beginning to eat more healthy on average.)
