The Smirking Filibuster. 41 votes is all the Filibuster needs to bring the government to its knees. He takes the power of advise and consent and leaves it badly twisted and bent. Presidential power gets thusly thwarted by a Senate so politically distorted. Which just leaves the Filibuster smirking when he sees Washington not working.

Perfect depiction of the problem, still flattering to McConnell.

So, will Wuerker do the same smirking cartoon when the Dems use the filibuster to shut down a GOP president’s nominees. Probably not, because when the Dems do it it’s for the good of the country, and when the GOPers do it, they’re just being evil.

The new FORM of the filibuster is new. If they went back to the old days and actually were forced to talk it would be far less objectionable when used by either party. (Where’s Mr. Smith and can we send him to Washington?)

Yes, Democrats have used the filibuster in the past. BUT, they haven’t even been a pimple on a flea’s behind compared to McConnell and the boys abuse of the “privilege”. It should also be noted that it is Republicans who re-wrote the Senate rules to allow the idiocy it’s become today.

Omnius needs to actually READ our Founding Fathers. The filibuster IS NOT on of their ideas! The Constitution only calls for each Chamber to create its’ own rules. The filibuster is the bastard child of ignorance and obstreperousness, but IS NOT written into law!
