I know a joke that would work very well with today’s strip:

A symphony orchestra was in town to perform Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Before the concert, the bass section asked the conductor if, during the performance, they could go across the street for a drink. There was a lengthy section of the Ninth where they wouldn’t be needed.

The conductor gave permission, and, at the proper time, the bass players left and went to the bar. After several drinks, one of the players said it was time to go back. But the lead bass player told them not to worry, as he had used string to tie together the last two pages of the score.

So, the bass section had several more drinks until they were all pretty well tanked. They went back to the auditorium and, sure enough, the conductor was trying very hard to undo the string so he could see the last pages of Beethoven’s Ninth. And, at this time, the audience members were on the edges of their seats.

Which was only logical. After all, it was the bottom of the Ninth, the score was tied, and the basses were loaded.

Couldn’t tell you what Beethoven piece it is, but it seems to be a piano piece (best guess, that.) Can’t tell much more ’cause it seems to be just one bar, no times or keys indicated. One website I checked had scores to 333 Beethoven pieces…too many to wade through to try to find a match…
