The latest Huffpost story said Snowden doesn’t want to stay in Russia. Ecuador doesn’t want him. So he is asking 20 countries for asylum.

Ellsberg released information the courts said shouldn’t have been classified in the first place (about both Democratic and Republican administrations) regarding Viet Nam, as the information released posed no threat to ongoing security.

Manning, and now Snowden, have released information that CAN threaten lives and operations, overt and covert, that are part of the security of the nation.

I do NOT like the authorities provided by several sections of the “Patriot Act”, and find them far over-reaching. I didn’t like “W” using them covertly and in secret, and I don’t like Obama’s people doing the same, they haven’t hardly “expanded” the use, just had it revealed, btw.

While everything from nuclear secrets to the brand of toilet paper in the White House has been subject to being classified “secret”, since Reagan and Iran/Contra, the courts, the press, and the public should be aware of the difference, and the courts SHOULD intervene if either Congress, or an Administration, “over-reach”.

If we had whistle blowers and enraged people when the patriot act took away so many of our freedoms and rights, we would all be better off than we are. When you relinquish freedoms and rights, it’s very hard to get them back, and the longer you wait the harder it is to get them back.
