A British-Iraqi work colleague has told me how his family had to flee to Iran during the Iraqi-Iranian war, because they’re Shi’a, lived in Iran for 5 years then finally sought political asylum in Britain. He’s tried to explain to me the schism between the Shi’a & Sunni but I guess his view is a tad biased since so many Sunni have tried to wipe his lot out.
