The question is, are the rats on bpard for this too? You know, the rats outside the door? The rats that got sacrificed? And what about the mayor that got a wake up call on his duties? Is Jacob even aware that Endtown below may be even less trustful to a dictator now?Oh, this is getting interesting.

Ok, time to spell things out. What happens next:1) Allgood gets all angry and foamy at the mouth.2) Velda pulls the gun from behind her back and shoots the 2 nearby rats dead.3) Allgood discovers his gun has either no ammo, or no firing pin.4) Velda and Jake throw themselves to the ground at the sides of the hallway, screaming for help.5) The other rats come up and reenact the scene from FX.6) Jake returns to the courtroom, where the TV cameras are working again, with the Milk 3. He is declared a hero.7) Velda removes all traces of her having rigged the HC.8) The bodies of the old HC members are placed in the numbered rooms for the cameras to pan over.9) Jake and the Milk 3 return downstairs. There is a parade thrown for them, with streamers, balloons and cotton candy.10) The rats follow Jake down to the colony to implement martial law, and they are torn to pieces in revenge on Jake’s orders.11) Jake and Velda live happily ever after.

… except Endtown didn’t have a direct democracy; in fact, I’m not a fan myself. I prefer representative republic, which is closer to (yet not exactly) what Endtown has (had).

Something’s still wrong here. It doesn’t seem possible that Jake knows anything about what has happened in town. He wanted to “give them a show” and then provide a hero. Well, it seems to me that that opportune moment has passed and the hero has already stepped forward. I understand where characters of Jake’s ilk aren’t too worried about “breaking a few eggs”, but he seems a bit too nonchalant for the current state of affairs. I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that there is another plot twist just around the corner… ;-)

If Jake does survive (The Octolawyer probably won’t be seen in town again); I think Linda is a dead duck. Jake showed surprise when Allgood didn’t question her. He expected to use her. He was ready to execute Al and Gustine just on suspician of working with Topsiders. Linda WAS one.

Meanwhile, down on the ground, we may be surprised to learn that Mayor Walter, not Jacob Jackrabbit, has in fact become the hero of the people. Remember, he has been a hero in the past, at the Pep-Cola stadium. (Presumably, he led an uprising of mutants who were scheduled to be terminated in the eugenics drive.) He has it in him to be a hero once again.

This is a game changer for Endtown. There are so many directions the story could go from here that there is no point making further predictions. I will anyway, of course.

It is clear that Allgood is just a useful idiot. I should have seen that before. The most burning questions on my mind are:1) Is Maude was in on Jacob’s plot? She insisted on Jacob for their council. The answer is vital to whether the Milk 3 survive.2) Does Jacob know about the Endtown Massacre? If not, he might be a useful idiot for Velda. If so, he’s even more evil than I think.3) A lesser point but it is clear hat Allgood can’t leave the attic alive. Does Jacob have him killed or just throw him in cold storage with the Milk 3?4) Who do the rats really work for?

Even if Allgood does save the Milk 3, he is still going to have his work cut out for him if he ever wants to show his face to the people of Endtown. No doubt the people blame Allgood for the riot deaths. After all, they consider the rats to be Allgood’s minions.I don’t think Maude is in on this at all. She’s just one of many who think Jackrabbit is a hero for what he does to help the mutants come to term with the changes they had to endure.

That’s right, cindyorch. Wally’s still on the loose…he’s sort of the X Factor in this. My own thinking is that Allgood gets killed (by Velda, who has that one hand/paw behind her back) but the rats, who have developed senses of consicence and awareness as this arc has progressed, step in and blow Jacob and Velda away.Who knows (besides Aaron)? That’s the beauty of where we are in this arc right now: It could turn in any direction, but I think Allgood’s toast in any scenario. Jacob and Velda are not going to tell him what’s going on and then let him live to be a witness against them. Then again, Wally’s still on the loose and he’s one smart and motivated kitty.

The Rats without Flask are going to be easy pushovers. As Flask pointed out they love to salute and follow orders. That is probably why this grab for power never happened before. Flask was not going to go along with something like this. She wanted no interference from Endtowners. Velda has positioned herself as such to the Rats while being the Liaison. The Rats will probably look to her for guidance. Allgood is going to take the fall and he is going to fall hard.Someone mentioned Wally coming to the rescue. Wally is back at Holly sitting in the corner next to the radio again. Wally is no leader. Walter will have to concede there is no way he can fight this wave of “freedom” even knowing what it may lead to in the end.Jacob will appear the hero and usher in new sweeping reforms. Then he will start it up again about changing your name to match your anthro. His anti-human militant speech to throw away all your past “human” values and march on to a new Mutant World. Does he institute reforms like no mutant non mutated human co habitation?? What about Al and the like? Where will their place be? What about Cooper types?Where will their place be? Then he will announce the formation of an Army to retake the surface from the Topsiders. Mallard has produced ray weapons that do kill. Forward he will cry from the rear and the front rank will die. (Floyd) Sure Jacob will give them freedom from the ways Jacob finds stifling and antiquated. But where does he lead them?? For sure he will not let them lead themselves. Someone has to be the leader.

wait, was this his plan all along or is he just taking advantage? Even now I know that direct democracy isn’t the best system out there because of the tyranny of the majority.

For all the love Americans have for democracy it generally doesn’t work that well. It is at its best when the majority (or at least a very representative minority) is involved and takes the trouble to vote on the main elections AND the primary elections. Involvement in the primaries produces candidates that are fairly mainstream. The problem is that when most people shun primaries we get a slate of extremest candidates (liberal Democrats and conservative Republicans) and gridlock up the wazoo. I’ve generally imagined that Endtown’s High Council system had its own problems (particularly that it could be easy to game). In both cases, benign dictatorships are tempting. The general problem is the acute shortage of benign dictators.

Victims sometimes turn out to be the heads of the operations. If this is the case, then I expect Maude to be the secret boss. She picked Jacob to be her defender, and of course she knew where the milk came from and who she gave it to. She could have arranged for the rats to raid her apartment just as she had Linda in an incriminating position. (After her agent Hopper confirmed there was a cake available for evidence. No, I won’t let it go.)

There’s the catch phrase in panel 3. “Make irresponsibility a moral imperative.”We shirk our connection to each other and then we can ignore their plight…or they can ignore our plight. I could bring up a potential touchy subject, but I won’t

@Veteran: " Veteran said, about 4 hours ago @Jenner Jenner, You write musicals for the Mouse? I would have dress Gizelle more Ginger Rogers like. Express her female side more." Jenner wrote a musical sketch for a RAT. Rats have six pairs of nipples while mice only have five pairs. It makes a little difference in the choreography.

Jacob has no fear of the gun that Allgood is holding, I allow he has already protected himself against that eventuality. However, I believe Aaron is going to surprise everyone with where this plot is actually going to go.In other words, the taking over of Endtown by a “little Hitler” is so obvious a plot development that I reckin’ it tain’t gonna’ go that way…

Professor Mallard, the genius who said he could do anything he wants, said he was powerless to do anything about the High Council system. Could be a ploy. Maybe it is Mallard who’d behind all of this. Maybe we should have him dragged out and shot. That’s the problem with repressive totalitarian regimes: eventually the paranoia gets to you, and you want to execute anyone in the least bit suspicioius.
