I am barely mobile. My well-meaning family always wants to put their hands on me when I am negotiating a tough spot and I always have to tell them to back off, “I got it.” Just hang out nearby and be ready. Get your hands off me!

I always surprise wheelchair-bound disabled people when I simply ask them if I can help in any way. Some ask me for a push, others are fine. But they all thank me for asking first.
