@Caligulla Thank you! Thank you for yesterday saying something pertinent and informative rather than merely insulting or outlandish. Taking you at your word, I had no that UT was so lax and careless in issuing IDs. I live in a college town, and a college ID is a lot more meaningful here. Of course, registering and paying for a class at the beginning of a semester under the name of an actual registered voter then having a fraudulent ID made up and keeping that until election day seems like a dangerous and expensive way to get one extra vote. Don’t know what the rates are at UT, but here at this State University, a student has to pay $900. for a 3-credit-hour summer school course. If I read UT website correctly, the cost of enrolling in a single course there is even higher. All to get one bogus vote. Who exactly thinks this is likely to happen, or ever has happened?

Vote fraud is real. Republican poll watchers in Wisconsin observed people being allowed to vote on behalf of friends and relatives who they claimed could not make it to the polls.

Voter fraud would be a concern if we just had one person/ one vote. But the Electoral College is where the potential for fraud is the greatest.

No Susan, you don’t have to go back to the DMV to reissue ID if your appearance has changed, though many tend to be unhappy with their DMV photos. I had to get a new ID one time when my purse was stolen, but that was the only time I had to get a new driver’s license unless it had expired. Is it really true that people in NYC don’t drive? How does that really work?

It’s all BS you have to show ID to cash a check, use a credit card Etc. In Arizona we are required to show it to vote—if you don’t have get one you lazy lib

If you believe that ‘Bush’ stole the election in Florida, is it such a stretch to believe, that Obama(using the IRS)usedvoter suppression to ‘steal’ the election in 2012?50% of America feels that way. This issue will not go awayYes Jimmy Crow is alive and well, living in the hearts ofprogressives!

It’s amazing to me that conservatives read Doonesbury; do they do it just to aggravate themselves? Or to comment and start a name-calling contest? Most liberals don’t watch Fox or listen to Limbaugh because it would have no use other than as an aggravation, which has no point unless they’re masochistic. Hey Doonesbury-reading conservatives: are you masochists or what?

This strip series has shown the voter suppression in a truthful and realistic way. The Fox news watchers that are commenting have been misled by the fabricated news of Fox and its talking heads who pour forth the party talking points on a daily and hourly basis. Even the better informed GOP voters have recognized the sad decay of the party as it is led by members and elected who have a mindset which more easily fits with the 1875 than 2013. It takes centuries for prejudice to fade away, sometimes it never does.Voter suppression and redistricting were in full swing in 2012 and it did not work. We now recognize the GOP leaders will do ANYTHING to try and get elected. And yes, Bush stole Florida due to some ballot irregularities of printing which was secretly directed by Rove, the scummiest snake in the grass in the GOP.

Is there ANY single investigative source that both sides can agree reports the truth about voter fraud? No? Then all you people just like to flap your gums! Yes? Please tell me where! (One vote per reader please!)

Is it just me, or is it really insulting to minorities, students and the elderly to suggest that requiring ID and being alert for voter fraud will discourage them from voting? (I’m not American, so I may be misunderstanding something)

Bottom line, GOP is sure only Democratic voters cheat. A Republican wins, must be the will of the people, a Democrat wins, must be voter fraud.Yet, it is fine with GOP that huge amounts of money can be spend in support of GOP candidates, but when Obama raises even more money, it must be voter fraud.(and don’t misunderstand me, I have been furious with Obama for years)

NC would be the lead in this strip if it were written in 2013. For US representatives from NC, a majority of voters supported Democratic candidates in 2012. According to GOP, it is completely fair that twice as many of the actual US representatives are Republican. That sounds like voter fraud to me, also.(and don’t misunderstand me, again, I have been furious with the Democrats for years also)

The political BS in this strip clearly sells well to uninformed and misinformed people, but I would like to set the record straight by pointing out two of Trudeau’s lies. The Jim Crow laws were created and enforced by Democrats, not Republicans. A recount by newspapers normally favoring the Democrat party proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that George W. Bush won Florida. I don’t mind Democrats disagreeing with Republicans, but it would be nice if they might mix a bit of truth in with their lies once in a while.

“I have a question on this ID subject: what do you do if your appearance has changed since the ID was issued (gain/lose weight, change hair color, etc.)?”-Just hand it to them and dare them to deny you are the beauty in the photo.

“Justice Department between 2002 and 2007 showed of the 300 million votes cast in that period, federal prosecutors convicted only 86 people for voter fraud”-Conviction doesn’t mean it did or didn’t happen, just that many went to trial and resulted in a particular decision.

“The very worst cases of voter fraud are the choices that voters have at the polls

Both parties have enough trouble coming up with candidates that are electable, let alone desirable"-I must admit sometimes the pickings are slim.

“Get used to saying President Hillary Clinton conservative crybabies!”- President Hillary Clinton President Hillary Clinton President Hillary Clinton President Hillary Clinton President Hillary Clinton -Okay, I’m used to it now. So you’ve already picked who MUST be next?-Not that I’m griping. I believe she’s the best person our party has to offer, I just thought the voters were supposed to have a say.-Oh? I see, they get a say, but the fix is in?

“Bush did not steal Florida!”-Ralph Nader stole it from Gore. He siphoned off way more votes than Gore needed to win in 2000 (“Nader received 97,421 votes”) That is unless you think half of those 97,421 votes would have gone to ANY Republican.

I don’t say anything about Mallard Fillmore or other Conservative cartoonists because I don’t read them. I also don’t comment on them because I probably wouldn’t have anything good to say. Why do you feel you have to comment here — proselytizing perhaps? Not interested.
