I love the fact that it’s quite clear that Garf is sentient and not only understands everything they say but does actually have a way of communicating with them…that is: if he’s not being TOO lazy.
If he was going to have to type those 14 characters, THEN point at his right ear, AND think “My right ear” then do you think it would be worth it?

well I thought scratching the ear or ears was what cats loved and Garfield just using a modern way to tell Jon to do so
