Thinking back on when we lived in Arizona a long time ago, and all the license plates were “snowbirds”, mostly Michigan. Many became permanent residents, and the true history of the southwest, just like in California was lost in the surge of “easterners” who came for the amenities, the friendly cultures, good living conditions, and destroyed them all.

I’m not really clear on what your point is here, but I hope you are factoring in the fact that the Republicans and Liberals have swapped positions since Lincoln’s time and Jim Crow laws. Hence the Dems and the KKK and Dems and segregation.
