They ‘re living proof that TV can make you dumb—and can have a negative effect on kids. Since Timmy and Patty are the normal ones, where does that put this crowd? But TV didn’t do it.
Cell phones did exist in the 90s, but were big and clunky. The reception was really bad, because there weren’t enough towers built yet. They weren’t as popular until the late 90s, when they finally got cheap and small enough to schlep around.
we finally got cells, mine with 750 refill, wife with 500/month addon/rollover. i have 3 days left on this month, 748 minutes left, wife now has 5371 minutes rolled over. we don’t use them much….
Checking back today on the triangle question… Thanks for all your help…. Marlene’s earring seem to be the strongest suggestion…….. Now to find the triangle for Monday… ? ? ?
Looks like the brown couch that Marlene & Burl were sitting on in the first panel morphed into Joy’s chair in the second one and they ended up with two blue chairs.

I think maybe we’re back in the 90’s, with Sally Jesse and Jenny and Ricki…..
(Maury may still be on the air…. I dunno….)
Or maybe there’s magic going on here…..looks like Dale is knocking on an invisible door, begging to join the time travelers.
Julie has said she sets Crustwood in the 1990’s…. but sometimes the Pennys have 21st century accoutrements such as cell phones.
In any case it’s a world of its own.

Susan, I do recall cell phones in the 90’s, but they weren’t as popular as they are now.
I remember seeing my cousin on the bus yapping away on her new cell on the way to work. At the time I thought it was a toy I’d never come to own.

The only thing that even vaguely resembles it seems to be Marlene’s earring(s), but I don’t think that’s it. I’m pretty stymied on this one!

Its not tv that made this bunch dumb, inbreeding maybe? No triangle, maybe its left over from another panel.

The only triangle I saw was in the top of Marlene’s earring -(hearts in the lyrics).
