Tobacco regulations: no TV ads, package warnings, no selling to minors. Cigarette companies fought these tooth and nail for over 30 years. Now part of the landscape. Lives saved.Auto safety regulations: seat belts, airbags. Automobile companies fought these tooth and nail for 30 years. Now part of the landscape. Lives Saved.
The NRA is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths. If you ever want a reality check, look at Joe Nocera’s gun report, where he summarizes every gun death reported in a U.S. newspaper. For every criminal stopped with a gun, there are about forty innocent people (many children) who are killed by criminals or through stupid, stupid accidents.
That burglar breaking into your home is there for one reason, to get your guns which he can readily sell along with your electronics. Easy money to buy his drugs.
30+ deaths to guns EVERY DAY in the U.S., yes we’re the world leader on something!
As a gun owner, hate the NRA’s unreasonable stance on many related “issues”. Notably in the argument about “crazies”, 99.9% of “shooters” killing others aren’t mentally unstable, clinically, they just have no sense of morals or ethics and are “takers”, just like Wayne La Pierre and his backers. They choose to use guns to take what they want, because they’re easy to get.
Good thing well-armed citizens would never make such a mistake.-——-As a rule, you & I agree on most issues. In this case I have to call into question your assessment of the situation. Mr. Waller was shot and killed by police officers authorized to carry arms. It wasn’t his fault that they over-reacted. I wasn’t there and cannot say what transpired, but obviously Mr. Waller was doing the right thing by checking on his neighbor’s house. To use this example as a front to take away citizens’ gun rights is misguided. You might as well advocate a stance that one doesn’t have any business checking on one’s neighbors. Had Mr. Waller not done that, he would still be alive. If you want citizens disarmed, you should also be insisting upon taking away weapons from the police.
Yeah, those kids survived the abortionist’s scissors and everything. Oh, I forgot, those fetuses aren’t really human are they? Like the Nazi’s defined Jews.
You have several thousand fatalities the majority being suicide that you lay at the firearm mfg’s doorstep. The 60 million Roe v. Wade abortion toll is, as they say, “swept under the rug.”
“Things must be tough on obama Admin, Danziger brings up the NRA and gun subject as a diversion.”Some of think the “scandals” being chain mailed by the Rovian minions are the distraction.
“NRA gun and manufacturers has about as much to do with death and murders as AAA and GM have to do with a car accident.”If GM & Jack Daniels lobbied to loosen drunk driving restrictions, THAT would be like the NRA & gun manufacturers.
“Wow, are you ever reading me wrong.”I thought you were perfectly clear. My theory is that people who didn’t understand your point are also likely to believe there is no way their kids will kill themselves or someone else with guns in the house.http://americablog.com/2013/05/5-year-old-boy-kills-2-year-old-sister-with-his-birthday-rifle.html
I invite you to re-read my comment.-————-I always read and re-read a post before I respond. As you will see, I quoted your comment “Good thing well-armed citizens would never make such a mistake.” I took that to be sarcasm, suggesting that Mr. Waller would be alive today if he had not been armed and justifying the police for killing him (on his own property). I apologize if I misinterpreted. Perhaps you could clarify the intent of your post?
The more guns, the more accidental shootings. Yet the Rednecks are of the opinion that the more people carry guns, the safer everyone will be.-——————————-The jury is still out on that. Here are a couple of sites that contradict your assessment of the situation:
You’ve answered with data of less gun crimes and gun homicides. Different issue.-————————On the outside chance that this topic hasn’t grown stale due to the fact that I’ve been absent, I’ll try to continue the rational discussion we’ve been having..(By way of explanation, let me say that my internet service went down last Friday and was restored only yesterday!).You appear to be suggesting that the police shot Mr. Waller “by accident”; it was no accident, since the officer’s judgment was faulty and the shooting was intentional. It was a homicide.
But since you’ve introduced a different but equally interesting topic, let’s play.-—————Let’s..I made no attempt to suggest causation; I was merely pointing out the flaw in your premise, which suggested that an increase in the number of guns would automatically equate to an increase in the number of homicides (accidental or intentional)..The introduction of “accidental” came only after-the-fact, with my challenge of that reasoning..The remainder of your post is non sequitur.

Quit your obsession for a second and read the damn cartoon. Danziger goes after any president, regardless of political stance.

I see a looney has threatened to shoot people in the face who take his guns away. Gee why would anyone want gun control?
