    Poor Venus. She’s probably beyond mortified that the plant that bears her name is a monstrous, remorseless, carnivore (yet she dated the God of War at one time — why?)!

    Nothing more crude than a burping Venus Fly-Trap!—But it’s just the great circle of life, Venus!

    Please,

    according to all the stories Venus was vain, self centered, manipulative, and totally without any concern for others, she would eat up men and spit them out with no concern whatever. The plant is well named.Of course, the plant is named after the planet which was named for the goddess.Just as the days of the week were named after the 7 ancient planets.so Venus has FridayFreya’s day, Freya being the Germanic equivalent to Venus.Venerdi in Italian. Venus’s day

    Seymour was the fellow who grew the plant. The plant was named Audrey II (after the girl he loved).

    @misschill

    The plant in Little Shop of Horrors was named Audrey (or Audrey 2 in the musical)…

    PS: Saturn/Cronus was not a god, but a titan, and father to most of the gods. Minerva/Artemis had an unusual history, and the birth of Venus/Aphrodite is intriguing, and separates Venus/Aphrodite even further from Frigga.JusSayin

    I suspect you are right. Generally, if one’s offspring are gods, it is almost certain the progenitors had some godly qualities. Perhaps it required qualities from both Saturn and Ops, or Cronus and Rhea, to complete the god-making procedure, and transition from titan to god.Respectfully,JusSayin
