It’s nice when someone like Tucci calls the War on Terror “Progressive,” instead of what it is, a fabrication of Bush and his neocon cronies. It’s a clear signal that I can stop paying any attention to their comments and move on to “Heavenly Nostrils.” I appreciate the time-saver.

It great the economy is reviving. It would have recovered a little faster of the party of NO! had not been blocking everything. Well i guess trying to repeal the needed ACA was important. Fighting against same gender marriage from the federal level down was needed to get people back to work.. I imagine trying to rollback rights from the state level and now up to e house level is always a bell ringer for how well the republican/ tea party really understands America..

Yep, all that sure did help. Along with four years of we will make him a one term President. It swept the a republican nominee for President right in to a shyt can along with a few republicans.. And hey another election cycle will see a few more gone. Think the republican party will get the message or is it going to take losing another presidential election to get their notice that not every one is a far right conservative.

The dollar amount is only relevant to the context of value. Margin debt is still significantly lower as a percentage of market cap than it was in 2007. We’re likely to see smart investors taking their profits & moving out of some stocks. I expect some drop this year. Lombardi has been predicting doom every year for over a decade. That doesn’t qualify as an accurate record in my book. Lombardi is in the business of selling his newsletters @ $195 a year. Most of us here don’t have big portfolios, so unless you want to explain how this is more credible or relevant than other stock market predictions, I’ll chalk this up as more bomb throwing. (Perfect avatar, btw)Stocks go up, stocks go down,This old world keeps spinning round…

Thanks to our “debauched dollar”, we have been able to increase exports. If we get to the point where that actually translates into something like, y’know, FULL EMPLOYMENT, we’ll need to reverse monetary policy. I suppose you’d like to go back to the barbarism of the gold standard & rotary telephones. You seem to think we should live in an ‘every man for himself’ society. You want a land where a man can rise to the level of his ability without the interference of government? Somalia is waiting.

CS Lewis also said,“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”You don’t have an inkling of what CS Lewis was about.

So if the stock market is the be-all and end-all of civilization, it’s about over?-and yet the sun is shining, the wind is blowing, I am full of fried chicken and potato salad.-Perhaps we need to learn to index those indicators too.

“jacked up even further by your Magical Mystery Muslim Messiah.”-If President Obama wanted to be Muslim, he could do so. Nothing he has said or done indicates such is his desire. Your insistence on calling him Muslim reduces your otherwise high credibility.

A man is what he calls himself unless there is clear evidence to the contrary.

A man is who he calls himself, since it‘s his name to decide for himself once he is grown.

“The dollar-denominated indices employed by obamaphiles to burble about how the economy is “recovering” under the malignant depredations of our Kenyan Keynesian don’t mean a frelkin’ thing if the dollar has been debauched so badly that it can’t be used as a gauge of measurement.”-Keynes was an idiot and it is silly to follow his economic policies, but the Kenyan complaint is a bit peculiar. Is that just another way of calling him black? Well, never mind, it obviously is.I guess that’s a black mark against him.-But now, as to money, all money is imaginary. Even if it were backed by gold, it would only have value depending on how much people valued the gold.-Money works as a medium of exchange only as long as everyone keeps imagining it has value. YOU are trying to gum up the works by pointing out the obvious fact that it isn’t real.-It’s up to you, but I might point out that all that you have and which is delivered to you depends on other people thinking your money is worth working to obtain through goods and services. If they realize the truth, you will soon die of starvation or some other malady.

I’ve had enough. I’ve contacted the moderators about the few posters here who – while stating that they don’t even like this strip – are determined to dominate the comments with completely off-topic, angry, insulting rants. And I invite those of you who enjoy the strip to view it on Slate – where it appears in its own feature, which also includes “the Sandbox”, a blog by veterans and currently serving troops about their experiences.GuardSGT, Tucci: if you folow, and try to disrupt the discussions there, you will find that the moderators are far less tolerant of your juvenile behavior than the establishment here. Just to let you know.

Polarization isn’t all bad. Polarization = mobilization. You have to be a little naive if you think getting through all the political-social arguments in our time or any other time is going to be easy. It is always really hard to see social change through. Still, getting through the civil rights era, for example was worth it!

One thing is terribly clear about you, you became a doctor for the money. Your endless ranting about your money and your property, couple with your obvious lack of compassion for anything but your fellow reactionaries (and perhaps not even them if they wanted anything from you), makes your motive all too clear.Too bad you didn’t take your hyperactive verbosity and vulgar manner in the practice of law; you could have made far more money for being exactly what you are.And I repeat my comment that doctors who do it for the money are like corrupt cops and pedophile priests.

“No, I’m a general practitioner – y’know, one of those mangled care “gatekeeper physicians” who’s supposed to hold down third-party-payor costs by denying their clients access to expensive diagnostic and therapeutic options.”Some day when you’re pulling an Ayn Rand, covertly sucking up that sweet socialist milk you claim to despise, I hope you remember the nonsense you’re spewing today.More importantly, I hope someone is there to remind you.“Not me!”, you cry, “I have provided for myself!”The best laid schemes of Tucci & men, oft go awry. Just because you’ve got yours now, doesn’t mean it can’t disappear in one stroke of bad luck.BTW, you are not forced to accept Medicaid or Medicare patients, & you will not be forced to accept people covered by Obamacare. So shut up about being “forced” to do anything.Heck, I’m surprised a charming GP like you doesn’t have a stable of rich & famous patients who pay in cash. Of course, they might really ask you to compromise your ethics. Will you take the money & serve up the propofol?Ah wait. You said “mangled care” as in Managed Care, aka, the “Real Life Death Panels of the Insurance Industry”. Methinks you rail against the wrong foe.

Gary McSpook said,@DavidHuieGreen “FDR made a serious mistake, tho’ it was not his alone, to be sure”.It may or may not have been a mistake. It was definitely an action taken due to racism and despite the written objections of J. Edgar Hoover. Nor was it his only mistake. Economists still argue the policies he pushed delayed our exit from the Great Depression. They gave people hope, so they were politically expedient, but that is not the same as being good ideas..

“My main point was that Tucci, in his bitter hatred of all things Liberal, would by his own words find these men insane and indecent”.More than that, very likely declare Liberal any who disagreed. That is a common thing, just as folks used to call anybody a Communist who did anything with which they disagreed..A greater danger is the tendency to act as if our heroes were flawless and their every word the WORD OF GOD to be trusted absolutely..As to Einstein, let us not forget that his first Nobel was for writing an equation explaining the photoelectric effect even though he rejected the science of quantum mechanics which grew from that understanding. .Being a genius is not the same as knowing everything or always being right.-I’m reminded of the wife of the commanding officer over some prisoners in the Philippines . She decided the prisoners should not have to eat whole rice, rather white rice. She didn’t know the favored rice lacked the nutrients to keep them healthy. .Sometimes good intentions kill. Let us be cautious, even our enemies may be right. And who knows? they might secretely be our friends.
