Europe’s problem is a common currency shared between countries with different fiscal policies. Like roping a bunch of bicycle riders together: without the rope they’d all move along at their own speeds, but with the rope they all fall down.

It was easy to predict that the Euro would be a flop, with such a huge disparity of types of government and their fiscal policies. What to do next? God only knows!

I love the conservatives on this sight reacting to people pointing out the total failure of their ideas in Europe with “how can you be so rude?” These are real people’s lives you are destroying with ignorant austerity. It failed in Europe, and it’s failing here. We are paying our debt faster than at any time in history, and IT IS NOT A GOOD THING. It is costing massive numbers of jobs, and it’s seriously damaging America’s future to have such a vast pool of unemployed and soon unemployable citizens.
