She is totally disrespecting her parents. Does she really think this will help her if she wants to spend time with Quill this summer? I see a grounding in her future and she has no one to blame but herself. Also disappointed that Quill is not telling her to get moving to the dinner table. If she were my daughter I would be TOTALLY P-Oed

First of all, this situation doesn’t surprise me. Am sure Luann is misleading her parents on purpose…given that they didn’t trust her for one single minute to simply talk to Quill while alone with him. In essence, they are assuming she is ‘loose’ enough to jump into bed with him the instant the two are alone. Truly sad!

The question becomes, how are they going to guard her every second Luann and Quill are away from the house? Are they going to chaperone them full time? Tiffany will certainly gloat over Luann every second she manages to be in Quill’s company. What do you think would be the fairest way to handle this situation?

Man…Now I dunno where Greg is going with this arc. Is it Lu playing the “rebellious 17er,” or is it a setup for her to go to drama camp and get out of the house for a bit or,even worse, a setup for Lu to start thinking about an “alpha pad” of her own in a year, like Brad ?

At least Quill has enough maturity to say “Quit while you’re barely ahead…” Lu is truly playing with fire. If this arc goes into next week, there will be some consequences for her, I fear.

Wanna bet the lock on her door gets turned around with the lock on the outside?? Luann should have more respect for her parents than to shut and lock her door with Quill on the inside. Doing that is not going to help her parents in the “respect for Quill” department. One good punishment is to take her door off the hinges………lol

This is all very strange! It does not seem like Luann or Quill would be this disrespectful. It’s a kind of an “in your face” rebellion. Even Quill doesn’t appear to care what Luann’s parents think. We are probably in for some surprise ending to this arc.

Luann: ”I sure have missed you, Quill.“

Quill: ”I’ve missed you too, Luann"

Okay, so we are supposed to believe that they have just been spending the last 20 minutes in a locked room saying how much they missed each other? Is there anyone who thinks that they didn’t cover that territory thoroughly in the first two or three minutes. What have they been doing for the last 18?

Luann knows her mother well enough to suspect that she would try to barge in without knocking, so may have locked her door just to see if Nancy would do exactly that. Nancy: “Why was your door locked, young lady?” Luann: “Why were you trying to come into my room without knocking, Mom?” I don’t think it’s been stated that it’s against house rules for the door to be open if there’s a boy in the room. Teenagers should be allowed a certain amount of privacy for romantic talk and making goo-goo eyes at each other without being under the scrutiny of parents. If they trust their daughter enough to go out on a date and stay out of the back seat of a car, they should be able to trust her to not do anything foolish right under their noses at home. I would hope they would give Luann credit enough not to be that stupid.

I think Lu also has the propensity to fall hard, when it comes to love… Frank described it as “doting”, and maybe that was accurate… she seems very attached to Quill, and that could serve to hinder normal judgment, when emotions and feelings get in the way… this seems to be why she’s doing what she’s doing right now… she can’t “see the forest for the trees”… that seems to be why Frank said that maybe it was good that Lu didn’t go to camp… not because he didn’t “want for her to pursue her dreams”, but because he could see that she’s too wrapped up in Quill for it not to be anything but a distraction in whatever she’d pursue, where she wouldn’t be able to focus on it (especially if there was a fee to camp involved)….

"I’m appalled you’d equate the two. I’ll also presume you haven’t raised a teenage daughter.“

I don’t know why you would be appalled. They both have the attitude, “Since you’re going to do it, let’s make sure it’s safe.” They both are parents giving their tacit approval of the action.

It is really quite simple. If you expect the best, you will most likely get at least the better. But if you expect the worst, don’t be surprised if that is what you get.

In actuality, I’ve raised two wonderful and beautiful daughters to adulthood. They both are now happily married and have started their families. And as far as I know, they both waited until their wedding nights.

It really wasn’t that hard to do. The only real hard and fast rule that we enforced was no dating until they were sixteen. However, they were taught our values, and they watched us live them in our home. They knew exactly what we expected of them when it came to boys.

And that is how they behaved. Is that so surprising?

@Leviticus—- Like it? Hmm… I hadn’t even considered that… it’s just a shock after reading the 25th anniversary book this past week… I can understand people saying she’s doing it because she’s mad her mother tried the door and thinks she might be doing something inappropriate, but Luann is a kid. She is not an equal in the household, and only arrogance is making her act like this. I dunno, Tiff comes off as seeming ‘childlike’ to me because she is sometimes as dumb as a stick and because of the tone of the silly arcs she gets involved in. Mixing a sexual theme with this rebelliousness moves the story into a heavier, more serious tone. I think it fails, badly. But, next week maybe Tiff will be back and things will seem a little sweeter and a little nicer, and a whole lot funnier:)

@Donny Wallace- Is Luann’s interest in sex really solely the result of Toni talking about showering with Dirk? Lots of people don’t know Toni but still develop a sex drive:) Ha ha, sorry, just teasing. Well, Luann might be making a stand with Quill but unless he is going to marry her today and whisk her off to Australia to sponge off his Dad, she may (or may not) find out that her parents have all the power in the DeGroot home, and she has nothing (to paraphrase Bill Cosby). It’s ironic that she’s expecting her parents to respect her disrespecting them for an imagined lack of respect…wait, did that make sense?

Wow, this is really stupid of Luann, and stupid of Quill to go along with it. She might not know better but Quill’s old enough to, and he’s being a complete jerk to her parents, who did him a favor by allowing him to come into their home. Since he’s shown them that they can’t trust him and he doesn’t respect them I wouldn’t be surprised if they asked him to leave as soon as he came out, and told Luann that she won’t be seeing any more of him this summer. Oh, and no supper, either.^^I was thinking the same thing

It is not Quill’s place to tell Luann what kind of relationship she is going to have with her parents, even if her game playing will impact him. Casually advising her to be nice is probably about as pushy as it is advisable for him to be. There are sides to be chosen here, and Quill is not wrong to choose to stick with her over her parents. I don’t know what Luann thinks she’s up to, but she’s the one putting him in an awkward position, which he’s handling as well as he can.
