I think teachers have students read The Old Man And The Sea just to nip the tendency to enjoy Hemingway in the bud…Of all the stupid books….Like Vonnegut said, the guy should have just cut off the good meat from the stupid fish and headed for home, instead of letting the sharks eat it…idiot……If you want them to read great literature, just give them the Nick Adam’s Stories and let ’em lay in a hammock and enjoy…..
