With a current approval rate of some 45% (not too good in itself, which indeed reflects upon the mess itself) President Obama does have his problems at this time. However, with an approval rate of less than 10%, just what do you think the American people feel about the Republican led (and to a lessor extent the Democrat led Senate) House of Representatives?

When history looks back at the failures of this period, there will be many more fingers pointed at the legislature than the administration. Unless something actually sticks to the President and republicans are able to file some charges against him, this President will be considered a good man who was never given a chance. Every idea that he has had has been filibustered, underfunded, or left without a manager due to the Republicans failure to pass nominees to important positions. If Mr. Obama’s ideas had been given a real chance, like most Presidents have received, we could look at their actual failure or success and make decisions. His ideas are shot down as unworkable before they ever get a chance to be tried. So many of his ideas came from Republican sources it begs the question… why are republicans against them? The most common answer is because a Democrat is pushing the ideas, but that has not been a problem under Clinton or even Carter. If Republican presidents used Democrat ideas no one ‘punished’ them. But this president gets no respect from the right and too little support from the left. Why?Our system allows for new experiments to be made with each election. The legislature is not providing ideas with which to experiment, and they are blocking every experiment the administration puts forth. We need ideas and we need people to put those ideas into bills and make things happen. If we do not, I assure you that within twenty years, we will not be the nation we have been up until now. You who criticize this President and praise conservatives who impede him are making it acceptable and even necessary for liberals to do the same thing when the next republican is elected as President.Democracy is an experiment. But the lab is closed and no one is allowed into the laboratory.Why?Respectfully,C.

    Hello Mr.Churchill,

While I have nuanced debate for your second point, on all of your others, I mostly agree.I have said many times in the past that the tactics the republicans are using against the democrats are, for the most part, based on legislation or behaviors introduced by the democrats themselves. And they are indeed hoisted upon their own petard. I have also said in the past that when the Dems had their majority in the House and Senate, the Dems should have made peace with the Reps over the last eight years and agreed to work together under the new president. It didn’t happen. Pelosi was arrogant and the Republicans were able to keep legislation from happening while the Al Franken election took place, an event not settled until a few weeks before the 2010 elections.Gov’t isn’t supposed to be about paybacks. Geo. Washington said that political parties would divide and weaken the nation. That the parties would become tribal and take umbrage at petty insults and stymied bills. He’s right, and Sir Churchill, you are mostly right as well. It is a bitch.Respectfully,C.

Yes.They know that if you buy in bulk, you save money. They know they have one war and several hotspots where soldiers and drones are fighting. They know they have soldiers and police and other law enforcement to train. They want to supply weapons and ammo to allies or groups we want to support. They are buying many bullets and expect to use them in training and combat over the shelf life of the ammo.I’m not afraid of this gov’t nor do I believe the police and military would turn those bullets against US citizens unless said citizens were in the midst of a violent revolt.Do you know something we do not?curiously,C.
